When I got back to the dormitory Naomi was still asleep, but at some point she had woken up and moved to my spot on the bottom bed. That would have been completely fine, were it not for the fact that I'm terrified of sleeping on the top bunk. I walked over to her sleeping body and shook her gently.

"Hey Nay, get up"

"Nnnngh"

"Naomi!"

"Mmm..." At this point she had begun snoring, and I knew it was a lost cause.

I looked over at the clock we keep on the television stand. It was four in the morning. If I went to sleep I would only get in two hours maximum, and being the insomniac that I am, that's a big 'If'. I ran a hand over my face and walked into the kitchen to make some coffee. I took a bottled water out of our mini-fridge and poured it in a mug, then put that mug in the microwave and set the time for a minute or so. As I watched the machine light up and the cup turn I thought back on tonight.

"Hello..."

That mysterious guy, with the pale skin and dark hair. What was he doing in the quad so late at night? Why haven't I seen him around the school? He is a senior, but I would have noticed him before, during lunch or in my grade twelve AP class. They didn't offer Advance Placement Literature to the Juniors so I opted for a Senior class. But maybe he just wasn't advanced? No. That couldn't be it. I could see it in his eyes. He was smart. Maybe he just doesn't care for literature? I suppose that could be. I had spent the whole night thinking about this, if you don't include the time I spent looking for him after he disappeared. Is it even possible for someone to vanish, right in front of your eyes? Maybe I made him up. No that's not possible. But then again, neither is disappear-

I jumped as the microwave made its signature alarm, removing me from my thoughts. I pulled my mug out of the appliance and reached for the coffee. It was then that I remembered where we kept it. My eyes narrowed at the top shelf, at least six feet away from the ground. I hopped up, attempting to rescue the instant coffee from the hellhole in which it resides.

Admitting my defeat, I pulled a chair from the desk in our bed/living room, and brought it to the small kitchen. I climbed on top of it and retrieved the coffee, just barley able to reach it with the aid of my chair. I made the beverage extra strong, black with five table spoons of coffee, and drank it while flipping through television channels. Everything that same on was either an infomercial, or stupid "reality T.V." drama. I settled for some show random about paranormal creatures.

About an hour or two later my alarm went off, and I quickly turned off the T.V. and pressed the snooze button. Naomi's eyes flew open and she blinked quite a few times before sitting up.

"Good morning, Ava."

"It is morning, I don't know about 'good'"

"Awe someone didn't get much sleep," she gave me a drowsy smile as she stood up and stretched.

"Try none." I whispered this, but she still managed to hear me.

"What? You didn't get any sleep again? Isn't this the third night in a row?"

"No! I got about three hours yesterday."

"Whoop-dee do!" She said sarcastically before giggling. "Ima' get dressed and do my make up and hair and-" Her voice trailed off as she closed the bathroom door.

I took off my jacket and traded it in for my uniform top, before running a brush through my long hair and making another two cups of coffee. One for me, and the other for me. Soon after I finished the drinks Naomi strolled out of the bathroom.
