Chapter 1

*Luca's POV*

Some people say their love was meant to be, written in the stars, a match made in Heaven. They say there are no obstacles that can stand in their way if the love is true. Nothing can break the bond they share.

Yawn.

I mean seriously, what's up with love at first sight?

Zzzzzzzz

And don't even get me started on the whole 'no one else is in this world but me and her when we're together' stuff.

One word: Glasses. Not that hard.

My thoughts wandered elsewhere as I walked through the gate to the park. I heard the squeak of the swings as small children swung back and forth, laughing and screaming "HIGHER!" as their mothers pushed them from behind. I sighed in contentment at the familiar sounds of the park. It calmed me more than anything, for I had spent most of my days at the small park back in England. I loved nature, so naturally I'm drawn to any park, any hiking trip, and I'm especially drawn to the woods. I'll just walk endlessly until my feet might as well have 50 pound weights strapped to them. Mum never worried for my safety, since I was pretty capable of taking care of myself. Ive built some muscle over the years, since I did all the tough work around the house, ever since.... The accident.

It was about 8 months ago. I was in school, and we were in the middle of History. Hate it with a passion. To the death. If it was a person, it would be in the bottom of a piranhas stomach by now.

Anyway, so suddenly the intercom crackles on and I hear

"Luca Stone report to the office, Luca Stone report to the office." And it cracks and all goes silent. Everyone turned in their seats and looked at me as if I had just turned into a mermaid and had demanded a frosty. Ok. I don't have a explanation for that. Anyways. Continuing now....

What had he done?

What did he do wrong?

Is it bad?

Will he get suspended?

Ya. They're nosy little twits.

I sighed as I slipped out of my seat in the back of the room, slung my bookbag over my shoulder, and winked my famous wink at Mrs. Carson as I walked by. She blushed, looking down. She's too easy.

I smirked as I walked down the empty hallway. The silver gleam of the lockers as the sunlight hit them, the art projects taped to the wall haphazardly for the embarrassment of the kids and the bragging rights for the parents, and the glass show case for all of the awards this school won.

I won those awards.

I was my team's prized possession. I won every tournament, I won every competition, every challenge. My team always looked to me right before we went out to play soccer. I pumped them up before we went out to play the dangerous sport. More dangerous for our opponents than us. We were the infamous Eagles, and proud of it, to.

I shifted my bag on my shoulder, and walked in the principles quarters nonchalantly. I've been here too many times to count, I'm honestly surprised I haven't got kicked out of this school yet.

"Hey Miss P" I said, giving her my three finger wave (thumb, pointer, middle finger).

"Mr. Stone, please, take a seat" she said with a certain softness in her voice I've only heard when she talks about her son, Mike, who joined the military only about a year ago.

Uneasiness crept into my body as I slowly sat down in the all too familiar squeaky leather chair. I drummed my hands on the thighs, a nervous habit. What is going on?
