Chapter One

I'm so nervous for my first day of the internship today. What if he doesn't like me or something? I need to calm down. I'm going to do fine. I'm running around this apartment like a wild animal. My roommate is enjoying see me struggle and stress about this.

"Grace calm down. You're going to be great and they're going to love you." Lily reassures me. I smile and gather the last of my things. I say goodbye to her and head out. I grab a coffee before my first day to calm my nerves. I get to the building and my mouth drops. This place is huge!

I get to the parking structure and show the man my pass and he lets me through. I sit in the car for a couple of minutes, double checking I have everything I need. I try to prepare myself for what's to come when I walk through the door. I get out and hesitantly make way my way to the front door. I walk in and the view in front of me amazes me. Everything is so beautiful in here.

I check in at the front desk and let the lady know I'm here for the internship. She nods and tells me to take a seat until I'm called.

"Grace? Mr. Payne will see you now." She says and leads me to his office. I open the door and the sight in front of me shocks me. This man is so beautiful. His jawline is clean and the way he looks in the suit. I shake the thoughts out my head and introduce myself.

"Hello Mr. Payne, my name is Grace and I'll be working with you for the summer." I politely say. He puts out his hand for me to shake.

"You can call me Liam. Nice to meet you Grace." He smirks. God he's so handsome. He's also pretty young maybe just a little bit older than me. I wonder how he owns this company at such a young age.

"Hello Liam. Is there anything specific you need or anything I need to know while I work for you?" I ask. He thinks about what he's going to say and then answers my question.

"Well nothing really specific. You will be going with me to business meetings and dinners basically by my side at all times. I will have a driver for you when necessary. Other than that you'll catch on." He states. I simply nod and head over to the small desk he has for assistants in his office. I do a couple of small things for him and there.

I make copies of paperwork and such. I couldn't figure out how to work the copy machine so this nice man with brown hair and brown eyes helps me out. He's pretty handsome and tall and can't help but blush when he compliments me. He tells me his name is Connor.  We end up talking for awhile and he seems really nice.

We walk back to our desks in silence.

"So Grace I was wondering if I can get your number so we can grab a bite sometime. Only if you want to though." He utters. He seems nervous and I see him rub the back of his neck. So to break this awkward silence I answer him.

"Yeah, I'd love to get a bite to eat sometime. Maybe we can go after work today?" I suggest.

"Sounds great! I'll meet you here and we can head off from here. I know this great burger place." He exclaims. I smile and head into Liam's office. I walk in to see Liam pacing back and forth.

"Uhh Mr. Payne? Are you okay?" I ask. He looks up at me and he looks furious.

"Yes. I'm fine. Give me the copies." He says coldly. His hands are balled into fists at his sides. Why is he acting like this? I know I didn't do anything, well at least I think I didn't. I hand him the papers and he yanks them from my grasp. I quietly walk to my desk and don't say a word for the rest of the day.

*four hours later*

I don't say a word to Liam as I leave his office. He seemed on edge after I came back from talking to Connor. I see Connor standing where he said we would meet.

"Hey again." He chuckles.

"Hi. How was the rest of your day?" I ask him.

"Boring as hell. Stuck at a desk working on files. What about you? How was your first day as an intern?"

"It was okay. Nothing too crazy happened." I respond. He simply nods and we head out of the building.

"I have my car just around the back." Connor states.

"I can follow you because I brought my car it's that black one right down there."

"We can just take mine and I'll bring you back to get your car. Sound like a deal?"

"Deal." I smile and follow him to his car. I'm shocked when we get to his car. It's not what I expected from him. It's a blue Jeep Wrangler and by the looks of it, it seems like one of the older models.

"I know what your thinking." He begins,"this jeep is my life and I wouldn't trade for any Mercedes or Porsche. Although they are nice cars, I like my little Roscoe." I burst into laughter.

"Roscoe? Really? You named your jeep." I laugh.

"Laugh all you want Grace." He whines. We finally drive to this amazing burger place he keeps telling me about. As we pull up I see that place has two palm trees crossed over one another. By the looks of it this looks like some fast food place. As we approach closer to the place I see a yellow arrow and the words In-n-Out on the sign.

"This place is the best place to eat!" He practically yells in excitement. He gets off the car and opens the door for me to get out. We walk into to red and white restaurant and he orders for the both of us. I offer to pay and he says no. He ordered me to find us a table.

They soon call our number. Connor comes with a smile plastered on his face walking with a tray full of food. He hands me my single cheeseburger and plain fries. I take a look at his plate; he has a double patty burger and fries with a load of cheese and sauce.

"What? Do you want some?" He says and laughs. I shake my head no and take a bite of my burger. A small moan escapes my lips.

"Good isn't it?" He laughs. I ignore his question and continue eating my food. We make small talk. He tells me all about his family and life back home. I tell him somethings about mine and with that we finish our meal and head back.

"So what did you think?" He mutters as he drinks his shake.

"That place is amazing! How have I not tried this place before?" I respond. He laughs and pulls up to the building. He shuts off the car and walks me to my car.

"I had a fun time Grace." He smiles.

"Me too. Well it was nice meeting you Connor." I wave goodbye and drive to my apartment.
