Chapter Three

Grace's pov

I woke up with huge backache. I guess Lil and I fell asleep here. I grab my phone and I see that I have three messages. Two are from Connor and one is from an unknown number.

Connor: No problem. Maybe we can do it again sometime. (:
Connor: Do you have plans for this Friday?
Unknown number: Good morning Grace. This is your boss Liam. I need you to pick me up a coffee from Starbucks. Along with something to eat as well. It can be anything, I'm not that picky.

What the heck? How did Mr.Payne get my number? I think about it and then remember that he must have it on file or something. I let out a loud groan. I wake Lily up earning a pillow being thrown at my face. Nice. I throw it back and head to the bathroom to shower and get ready for today.

I undress quickly noticing I'm limited on time. I shower in less than fifteen minutes and head to my room. I decide on wearing a red blouse with some black pants and some flats. I head back to the bathroom and put on some makeup. I leave my hair how it is because it actually look decent today.

It's pretty chilly outside so I grab a coat and head down to my car. Starbucks is pretty packed inside so I just go through the drive thru. I order Mr. Payne his plain coffee with a muffin also getting myself a white chocolate mocha.

I get to the building with just enough time to spare. I quickly rush inside after I park. I take a breath mentally preparing myself for the day today. Hopefully Mr. Payne is in a slightly good mood today.

I head to his office and quietly place the coffee and muffin on his desk.

"Mr.Payne here's your coffee and muffin." I say and head to my desk. I can feel his eyes on me the entire time. I have no idea what to do so I just focus my attention on the paperwork in front of me. I just want this day to be over with already.

Mr.Payne leaves his office and I decide to take this time to check my phone since there's nothing else to do. I see a message from Connor.

Connor: Lunch?
Me: Yeah just wait for me by the door by the office.
Connor: Sounds great!

The next few hours seem to go by so slow. Mr.Payne comes in and out of the office having me do some small tasks here and there. I hear a small vibration come from my desk.

Connor: You ready to go?

Finally lunch time. I didn't realize how hungry I was until now. I grab my things and head out of the office.

Liam's pov

I've been trying to avoid Grace all morning. I kind of did considering I've been in meetings all morning. I made small talk just by having her do small things for me. I head back to my office and I see her leaving. I quicken my pace to question where she's going. She doesn't notice me until she bumps into me.

"Oops sorry Mr.Payne. I didn't see you." She stutters.

"Where are you going?" I question.

"I'm taking my lunch break. If that's alright with you?" She asks. I nod and let her go. My eyes follow her every move. My eyes lead me to this other person with her. It's that idiot. Conrad? Or something like that who cares. The only thing I care about is that he's with my baby girl.

I tell my assistant that I'll be heading out for something to eat. I head towards the elevator to catch up with Grace. I make it down in time to see them head out.

I get in my car and follow closely behind them. He has a pretty damn ugly car for and ugly guy. Maybe it suits him. My baby girl doesn't suit him though. She doesn't belong with him.

He finally pulls up to the restaurant. There's not much people but just enough for them to not notice me. I wait a couple of minutes for them to order and get situated before I go in.

I head inside without them noticing me and order something simple. I head to a table close enough so I could hear them but so they won't see me.

I know this is weird but I can't help it. I don't like the idea of some guy with her. I could make her happy. I bet that fucker just wants to use for sex. He's trying to convince her that he's a good guy. But in reality he's just a douchebag.

You are just jealous of him because he's actually having a talking to her and making more progress than you ever will. My subconscious adds. He really needs to shut the fuck up even though he's right. I need to make my move on her. I don't want to scare her off though.

I check my watch and see that it's almost 1:00. They get up and I turn around so they don't know it's me. I slowly poke my head up and see that it's clear. I wait a couple of minutes and then I head back to the office.

Grace's pov

I head back and to my surprise Mr.Payne isn't here. He seemed quite curious before I left. I wonder what's going on in that head of his. I decide to organize my desk a little because it's somewhat messy. A few moments later Mr.Payne arrives looking somewhat angry but nervous?

"Grace can you stay after work? I need to talk to you about something important." He says.

"Uh yeah sure. Did I do something wrong?" I ask curiously.

"No of course not. I just need to explain what you're going to be doing more of around here." He says and heads out.
