Mrs. Deveril never realised how much she cared of Trueth before that day.

When she was told about Trueth's missing, she thought it was just a bad joke. Then the Authorities found corpses where her daughter was last seen: the bodies were in such a condition that only a DNA test could establish their identities.

Mrs. Deveril didn't know if she should feel glad or not to hear Trueth wasn't dead. She resolved to wait for news and she waited for almost two years.

Then she received a phone call from the British Embassy in Cairo. A call telling her Trueth had been found.

She had booked the first, cheapest flight available.

"What the hell happened to you?" Mrs. Deveril spat angrily before bursting into tears.

Her daughter was in better shape than she feared - she even looked plumper - with just some minor bruises and a broken ankle, but what had made her say that were Trueth's eyes: they were empty and looked at her without looking at her. Did she get blinded by the desert sun in those two years?

Sort of.

Mrs. Deveril blinked. Did she hear Trueth's voice into her head?

"Please, Mum, take me back home as soon as possible," Trueth sobbed so sadly it hurt.
