ZACH'S POV

I cut the call and sighed in frustration as I threw my phone to the wall and it shattered in pieces. I groaned and walked to the living room of our enormous mansion, all the crystal glass and glitter sparkle was just a show to the others, cold hearted control freaks lived here. It was a paper house.

Ever since the news of my dad announcing my wedding aired it had gone viral, my phone blared with people who called to congratulate me, media reporters, business partners, it was annoying.

"Why the heck did you do it?" I growled.

My parents sat at the dinning table, with my mom serving dad the morning breakfast, as she applied butter to the toast. My mom was natural, she was like the old wine which gets better with age. Her face still glowed, her eyes tender and kind. My dad was tough man, he still held the edge with the thick masculine stature, tall and well built self with dominating and sharp eyes, he exercised control over everything.

"You knew this would happen Zach! They have great money to invest in our business" he said casually.

"So I'm another business deal?" I snarled.

"No! Your a paycheck" he said nonchalantly and it hurt, it stung deep.

"You're pathetic. I'm not marrying Amanda" I stressed each word.

"Don't be a fool. If Amanda has no problem what problem do you have?" My dad lowered his eyes on me.

"What? She knew about it?" I gawked my eyes at him.

"Obviously! It's with her consent!" My dad shrugged.

"What about my consent?" I raised my voice.

"What about your consent? You remember when you both were kids, you said you wanted to marry her" my mom peeped in our conversation.

"That was when we were kids!" I yelled.

"What's this all about Zach?" My dad glared at me, like expecting me to blurt the truth.

"I can't marry Amanda, that's it" I said and walked away.

The news of my wedding was viral on all kinda social media and media. I could hope she hasn't seen it yet but she hasn't answered my call since last night and now her phone is switched off. I hope she was at hospital last night and stayed there and today she doesn't have battery, but who am I deluding?

I slid in the key of my Harley Davidson and rode over to Salazar with god speed. I ran towards the door after parking my bike. Salazar looked the same, in past months I had visited it too many times and I'm accustomed to it, the sick people no more scared me, the plain walls no more made me feel claustrophobic.

I walked over to Ursula, who was the nurse in charge at that time. The one I always bribe, I loved to see the look of surprise on Lizelle's face. Her those big beautiful tired eyes always sparkled when she saw me, I was her little bursts of refreshment between the tiring 24 hours of work. It just made me so happy to look at her smile and I know life is good, her smile and wicked eyes always masked my worries.

"Where's Lizelle?" I asked concerned.

"Dr. Grey has no appointments for the day and has strictly asked me to not let anyone in" Ursula informed me.

"Just answer me god damn it" I yelled loosing my calm, I needed to see her.

"Dr. Grey is just out of an oppression, I have no idea where she is but my best guess is her cabin" she searched through the data and informed me.

I waited no more, I hopped, skipped, jumped, pushed through everyone. I opened the door to her cabin, she sat on her chair behind the desk with eyes closed in blue hospital scrubs, her glasses neatly folded on the desk. There were streams of tears flowing down her eyes, it already broke me. I knocked off the vase on the side table which caught her attention, she instantly opened her eyes and wiped the tears instinctively. When she saw me, she maintained a poker face but her eyes, those eyes were puffed and tainted with pain.

"Yes Mr. Stark?" She asked, her voice unsteady.

"Hey look whatever is on news is not true-" I started but she cut me off.

"You know there should be some kinda law, engaged men should wear their band" she said icily, her eyes cold which only held hate now.

"Hey-" I walked towards her,

"Don't you dare come near me" she warned raising her index finger. The way she spoke with so much hate and anger was like a bullet shot through me.

"I didn't know all this" I said keeping my calm.

"Oh please! I should have known that you were doing the blond, now I wonder how much did you actually tell me the truth" she said with hurt.

"Don't tell me you never slept with her"

"We did but that was long time ago"

"Yeah so your parents just arranged your marriage?" She rolled her eyes.

"Apparently but Amanda knew, I mean they asked" as I said those words I realised I shouldn't have said that.

"I'm tired of these lies Zach and I'm tired of always being an option, an easy option" she said as she rubbed her temples. This had definitely hit a nerve. I wanted to pull her towards me and calm her, stroke her hair and just keep her with me that way. She had been abandoned, cheated and exploited all her life and now I made her feel the same.
I'm so sorry honey! My heart cringed.

"Listen-"

"Fuck off Zach! I don't wanna see your face ever-"

"Don't say that-"

"go before I call the security on you" she threatened but her eyes gave out a different story.

"Hear me out please-"

"Get lost Zach" she yelled and threw the paper weight in my direction, I dodged and it hit the wall behind me and shattered in pieces. I was now scared of her, she was mad was just an understatement. Before she did anything nasty, I left. Thinking it was the best thing to do. I was hurt at the way she behaved, did you only understand me so much after all these days? Did you think so little of me that you won't even listen to me? what we had was so frail that it shattered so easily?
