CHAPTER SIX
I froze.
I knew that voice very well. My creator are colleagues with many scientists. I don't like any of them, but there is only one that I absolutely despise.
And he was standing in front of me.
"Johnson! Long time, no see. Still no girlfriend?" I said casually as I swirled my hair in my finger. Although I wanted so badly to kill him, I stayed calm.
I remembered when he tried to make me stronger by injecting toxic chemicals in my body. I didn't die, obviously, but it's probably the reason why I'm having random headaches when I'm in a fight.
My jaw tightened.
"Scar. You only have two choices. Just surrender to us without a fight--" Johnson started but I cut him off.
"Or, run away from you guys because that is so fun. Know what I mean?" I stared at the camera and gave my last words. "Yeah, since you created me, you've created the worst mistake of your life." I smiled as I dropped the microphone.
I turned around to walk away but a bullet shot me on the neck. It healed quickly but blood had spilled over. I slowly faced the man who shot me but there was at least a hundred of them holding a gun. I snapped my fingers to disarm the men from their weapons when it happened again.
Pain shot through my skull. My head was throbbing. I felt like my head was going to explode. I wrapped my hands on my head as I screamed because of the unbearable pain. I sank to the ground, trying to control the pain but that didn't help.
When the pain finally stopped, I immediately got the urge to kill. Once again, I was no longer in control of my body. I ran towards the hundred men, ready to attack, when a pair of green eyes looked at me.
"Scarlett? What's happening?" Jake asked me anxiously. Instead of answering him, I tried shoving him out of the way. He just stood still as he wrapped his arms around me. "Scarlett? What's gotten into you?" He asked.
"Let me go!" I spat. My body have a mind of its own. Jake held me close to his chest but I pushed him away.
I immediately approached the military army and snapped my fingers. Electricity currents crawled from my fingers towards them. They started running away while shooting me with bullets. I easily dodged their attacks. I was about to snap my fingers again when a hand gripped my arm.
"Scarlett." He said shortly. I growled at Jake. He looked at me with so much intensity that I was slowly returning to my normal self again. I stared at him. How did he do that?
"Run. Get away from here. I'll follow you after I take care of them," He gritted through his teeth.
"No, I can't lea--" I protested but he interrupted.
"Scarlett, I can handle them. I'm insurmountable too, remember?" At those words, he stretched out his arm. His palm was facing the army as radiation slowly came out of it. The radiation exploded and created fire. It reminded me of the time I first saw him in the forest.
"I'll catch up with you." He nodded dismissively.
"No, I never run away from a fight." I insisted but he shook his head.
"Do you want, what happened a while ago, to happen again?" He asked. I remembered the pain I felt when I had the massive headache. I nodded, and for the first time, I turned around to run away.
I had no idea where I was going. I didn't want Jake to find me so I decided to go to the forest. I slowed my pace when I saw trees and bushes enclosing me.
