We drove in silence for many hours, the soft hum of the car the only constant sound.

" we will be at our next stop within the hour, then we will transition to a jet." He said quickly and deliberately. My only response was silence, I felt myself slipping deeper and deeper into a pit of sadness with sand walls that kept me from climbing free. A few more minutes passed before he spoke again.

" I know it seems that your life is very difficult, but in time you will heal and may even begin to forgive me for the many things of I have done to you or hate me even more." He paused and seemed to carefully pick his next words. " I have been trying to understand your anguish but perhaps it is because of my age that I find it very hard to emphasize."

"Thanks?" I said. "That really helps, father." I tacked on the father part with a bitter sting."

He laughed a dry and humorless laugh.

"You will understand in time that emotion holds you back," he said and looked back at me with his fiery eyes. "For creatures such as ourselves they can get us killed."

His face gave a presence of absolute indifference and for some reason it bugged the hell out of me. This was the man who created me, this unholy thing, spurned my mother, ripped her heart out and dumped me in a place where they thought it would be fun to experiment with my life. The man who made me abandon perhaps the only person in the world who shared my soul and now he had the audacity to basically tell me to just get over it?

" I think you're right Dad, I will hate you even more."

Maybe thirty minutes later we arrived at an airport, the sun was just dipping below the horizon. he had given up on conversation and was content to let the silence do the talking. We were greeted by an entourage of people in black clothing.

"My Lord and Lady, we are glad to see you made it safely." A tall man said as he escorted us the the awaiting jet. His pale skin and slim but lanky build meant he was obviously a vampire. "You will be happy to know that the Jet is fully stocked with blood and snacks." He said  the last part to me and sent me a faint smile.

"very well  Vincent." Vlad said as he saunter up into the plane with me quietly following after him. the door sealed and the reality of my life finally sunk in. this was it there was no turning back to my old life. Nate, Syd, Dave, they were all gone with the sealing of that door. I would never see them again.

The flight was long and because I had no idea where we were coming from I found it hard to worry about time periods. The cabin was quiet just as the car had been but instead of blindly staring at the leather upholstery of the car I was staring into the steely eyes of my father.

"Are you hungry?" he asked abruptly, I merely shook my head not wanting to speak. He reached into the tiny fridge next to his legs and produced a small bag of what I could only assume was blood. "Are you thirsty?"a dull burning had been growing in my throat since the warehouse and the sight of the blood seemed to make the dull ache intensify slightly, but being the stubborn creature I am, I shook my head no again. He was quiet as he ripped the top of the bag open and let it slowly drizzle into a wine glass.

"Starving only hurts yourself daughter." He said as he took a luxurious sip. I remained quiet, I felt a rage deep within myself building up. "if you continue to act this way, our time together will be more strained than comfortable." He sipped again and this time a little bit of the blood lingered on his lips. He licked it away and smiled. " I guess I should have expected this stubbornness, after all you are your mothers child."
