Eloise is just your typical lost teen with bad experiences with men. Her father abandoned his fatherly responsibilities and went missing, maybe went off to a new family. Her uncle and her male cousins were just as worse.

She lost trust in men and bore a grudge for love but having only stories of fairy tales as her saving grace in her younger days, she couldn't help but hope for a happily ever after.
