Hello ! Im picking up this story after almost three years, so hopefully my writing has improved since then !!

Kiana was nearly out of breath upon reaching her classroom door. She leaned against the frame and held her right hand to her chest, attempting to calm her racing heart. When she looked up, her teacher, Ms. Himeko, gave her an impatient yet concerned look. Since she was in the middle of a lesson, she tilted her head towards Kiana's desk next to Bronya, a quick gesture that kiana picked up immediately. She hurried over to her desk and let out a small sigh before taking out her needed supplies for the day. Next to her, she heard a faint scoff.

"For someone who wants to be an A-rank Valkyrie, you sure are late all the time." Bronya, her close friend with an astonishing skill for gaming, gave her a small smile as she was secretly focused on some game on her phone. 

"you're one to talk, Bronya." Kiana retorted. She gave Bronya a playful jab to the shoulder before putting her attention on what Ms. himeko was teaching. 

As the lesson continued however, Kiana felt more and more lost. While she was improving on her studies, she was never the best when it came to learning in general. She held a fist in her hair and tapped her pen along the cold, hard desk, as she stared down at the problem, trying her best to unravel the words and numbers with no success. A shaky breath escaped her as she shook her head and bit her lower lip until it nearly bled. 

Bronya, after getting bored of her game, decided to look up for a minute and noticed Kiana. She seemed to be on the verge of tears, which wasn't so usual for her. Kiana was one to not understand learning topics, but she wasn't one to beat herself up for it. Carefully, Bronya placed a firm hand on her shoulder. When she looked up, Bronya moved her hand to her back and asked her if she was alright with her facial expression. Kiana hastily wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled with a firm nod. While unsure, Broya let her hand off and texted Kiana, telling her that she'd have the homework answers if she needed them.

After classes were over and Kiana stopped to have lunch with Bronya, the two went home to the dorm for the afternoon. Bronya threw a relaxed wave goodbye at kiana as they parted ways to their bedrooms. 

Kiana opened the door to her room and slammed headfirst into Mei. 

With a quick apology to her lips, Mei cupped Kiana's head in her hands and worriedly looked at her forehead, searching for any bruise or bump. 

"I'm okay Mei, you didn't crash into me too hard." Kiana assured her with a quiet chuckle, before a sudden blush appeared along her cheeks. Kiana stepped back and walked past Mei, hoping to get her mind off of how soft her hands were. "Were you bored any today?" Kiana asked as she walked to her dresser and picked up her tv remote. She passed it to Mei, giving her the consent to watch whatever she wanted. 

Kiana then sat down at her studying desk and opened up her homework for the night. After staring at the questions on the paper for what felt like an hour, she sighed and decided to check her phone to take her mind of it for a second. When she saw Bronya's text and the corresponding homework answers, she stared down her phone for a moment and wondered why she wasn't as smart as Bronya, or the other students in her class. She took a deep breath and started to copy down the answers. Once she finished, she put away her materials and got up to her dresser.

"I'm going to take a quick shower before everyone has dinner, Mei. Don't wait up for me!" Kiana excaimed with a warm smile directed towards Mei.

After picking a simple lavender sweater and some cotton shorts, Kiana entered her bathroom and closed the door behind her. She slid to the floor then and held her head in her hands, trying not to have a meltdown over her performance in class. She took a slight breath and held it in. She held her breath for a little over a minute until her mouth paled and she felt dizzy. Kiana took a deep breath before coughing so much it burned her throat. Holding in her breath like that hurt, and that was exactly what she wanted to feel for that moment. She shakily got up and started her shower, the water nearly boiling.
