Chapter 27: Polaroids, old friends and tanning

Alicia's POV

I woke up to the smell if the ocean and light shining through my curtains. I quickly hopped out of bed and put on my UGGS before making my way downstairs to make myself a cup of tea. "Morning baby sis." Luke said smiling when I walked into the kitchen. "Morning dumbo." I said holding my mug close looking out at the sea. We sat in silence until I heard a whistle coming from diwn at the garage. I quickly walked toward the edge of the balcony before noticing who was there. "Oh my word! You guys are here!" I yelled quickly unlocking the gate and runnnig down to my friends. I immediately ran into Charlie's arms laughing as she lost her balance and fell to the floor. "Seriously have you lot not grown up?" Jake asked walking past us and up the stairs to Luke. "Still grumpy about last time?" I asked Anastasia who nodded, still keeping the mute thing I see. "Well wana go do our usual?" Charlie asked as we got up. "Yea sure let me just go get changed." I said leading them upstairs. I quickly ran to my room and changed in to my grey and neon pink bikini and slipped on a pair of shorts and a cardigan with my vans. I grabbed my phone and headed towards my friends. I looked down to see johnny was video calling me and I quockly answered. "Baby!" He yelled when he saw me. "Hi love." I said with a giggle. "How's margate?" He asked watching me. "Its good im actually goig to the bwach with some friends now. Hey Anastasia , Charlie come say hi to my boyfriend." I said calling them over. "Oh my God itz Johnny Apple!move your fat as Ana!" Charlie yelled running towards me."hiiii jjjooohhhnnnnnyyyyy" Charlie yelled he moment she saw him. Anastasia on the other hand clamly walked over to us and gave him a simple wave bwfore signing I love you to him. "Oh Ana is mute." I said remembering that I didnt tell him. "Well I love you to Ana and for whatever reason you are mute I support your decision sometimes I wish Alicia would become mute." He said winking. "Hey!" I said giving him a look earning a full in laugh from Charlie and a little sound from Ana. "So what you going to do today babe?" He askex realizing I was offened. "Well we just gona hang around margate maybe go through to Ramsgate and go to the Waffle House." I said leaning my phone again the mug on the table so I could fix my hair. "That sound lovely" he said watching my fix my hair. "Yea... babe where are you?" I asked noticing his seroundings. "Oh um im in the car." He said quickly. "Well I can see that but where you going?" I asked with a matter of fact tone. "Oh im ummm im going to Sandton I need some new clothes." He said suspiciously. "Babe dont you have enough clothes?" I asked giggling. "Baby you shoukd know I never have enough clothes." He cooed. "Yuck you two are sickening. Even talking about clothes you are lovey dovey." Charlie said looking up from her phone before taking a sip of her tea. "I agree with Char" Anastasia wrote on her whiteboard she carries around with her to communicate, then shoved it in front of my phone for johnny to see. "you two are just jealous." I said quickly. "I agree with Alicia. Anyways baby I need to go will talk later. Love you!" Johnny said smiling his amazing smile. "Bye love you too!" I said before ending the call. "So ready to go?" Charlie asked jumping up. "Luke tell mom and dad I left." I said running downstairs and got my bicycle. When Charlie, Anastasia and I were like 10 we decided that we want those vintage bicycles so we saved up until we couls buy and now we all have these bicycles we ride when we here. We rod down to the pier and walked out looking at the sun rise taking Polaroid photos and all those tumblr girl things because we cool like that. By the time we were done with that we decided to head diwn the the beach. When we got down to the beach I quickly pulled off my shorts and began my tanning because come on who doesnt wana be tanned? "Alicia van you believe we've been friends for 15 years now..." Charlie said sitting up. "15 years...wow...thats insane..." I said amazed. "15 years with you assholes totally messed me up im mentally insane" Ana wrote on her board. "Sure Ana sure." Charlie said laughing alittle before pulling out her black notebook and pencil. "Still drawing?" I asked. "She hasnt put that thing away for more than an hout since I got here." Ana wrote quickly. "Shut up Ana. I have inspiration when I come down here." Charlie said scribbling in the notebook. "Hold on dont move!" I exclaimed pulling out my polaroid camera and sbapping a photo of Charlie drawing. "Not bad Alish not bad" she said looking at the photo. "Hey anyone else wana go to the milkshake place in Manaba?" Ana wrote and immediately we jumped up and pulled on our shorts to walk across the beach.

"Welcome home darling!" My mom called from the balcony. "Hi ma!" I exclaimed running up the stairs to her. "Im going to shower and change." I said before walking into the house. "Hiiii!" I heard choras through the house as I walked in. I hardly took notice to the 3 guys sitting on the couch waiting the tv. "Hi luke, Jake and Johnny." I said walking up the stairs thens stopped half way then I heard the laughs and ran downstairs. "JOHNNY!!!!" I yelled jumoing onto him. "Hi baby." He said still laughing. "Hi." I said kinda shy now. "Oh my gosh what are you doing here?!" I basically yelled. "Firstly dont yell secondly your parents invited me and thirdly I had to meet Charlie and Anastasia." He said with a little laugh. "Oh my gosh!" I basically yelled again. "Alicia May Smith if you yell again im going to personally going to beat you!" My mom yelled from outside. "Oops..." I said softly. "Wait I need to shower I was going to the evening festival tonight with Charlie and Ana." I said standing up and heading to my room to shower.

I looked through all my clothes trying to find something to wear for tonight. I decided on a pair of black highwaisted jeans with a white lace croptop and a peach cardigan with my black ankle boots with a heel. Casual yet fashionable I thought to myself as I picked my phone up from my bed and walked downstairs. "Oh wonderful you done! Okay everyone be home by 11, especially you Katie! I heard Jared is here and we all know you two dont know what right and wrong is." My dad said before we all walked out of the house. Johnny slid his hand into mine and intertwined our fingures as we walked onto the street. "Alicia! Johnny!" Charlie yelled trying to run in her platform heels. "Seriously Charlie? Platforms." I asked looking at her dumbfounded. "Duh! Omg hi Johnny" she said pulling Johnny into a hug. "Hi Charlie." He said pulling away. I saw Anastasia walk out of her house in a pair of lavender skinny jeans with a while long sleeve vneck and a pair of grey ankle boots like mine. "Hi everyone. Oh Mike said he will meet us on the corner." She wrote on her whiteboard for us. "Oh and Brendon is meeting us there." Charlie said fixing her tight fittig dress. "Char can I be the first to say you look horrible... well gorgeous but a tad bit over dressed."I said before we reached the corner. "Oh I gota go Brendon wants me at the life guard station. BYE!" She yelled walking away. "Go ahead we will meet up later Mikes gona be a little late." Ana wrote and we nodded. Johnny and I walked in silence for a few minutes. "Alish how did you meet Charlie and Anastasia?" Johnny asked breaking the silence. "Well thats actually a weird story. We were all met on the beach when we were 4, all of our families just bought holiday homes down here which we later found out was all on the same street. As we grew up coming here every holiday we became closer and closer. When Ana became mute our bound became even stronger I guess." I said looking ahead. "Whu did she become mute?" He asked curiously. I stopped and turned towards a wall separating the beach from the pavement and went to go sit down. "She went through a bad patch... she was the popular girl that whole family was blessed with being popular then one day her brother got into a fight about a girl. They were walking home from soccer practice when these guys attacked them, she watched helplessly as they beat her brother to death.... Alex didn't even make it to the hospital.... shes been mute since." I said wiping a tear away. Alex's death hit everyone hard he was Luke's best friend and basically a brother to all of us. "Hey cheer up lets go have some fun okay?" He asked standing up and taking my hand.
