My boot clanged against the metal handle of the window. I was still leaningcautiously off the roof of the next building, 10 meters up in the air, stillunsure if the platform i intended to land on would hold my weight. I held mybreath as I inched my way to the edge of the precarious ledge. My foot reachedout tapping the window sill, carefully I exchanged my weight onto that foot andspeedily climbed through the now open window into my location. I swiftly brushstray hairs out of my face whilst reaching to my headset to sync our earpieces.
"everyone else in?" I question quietly not wantingto alert the guards of my presence. After getting positive responses from my teammateswe all proceeded to do our set task. There was a loud bang above me and ilooked up to see a gaping hole in the once pure white ceiling. Ava, ourdistraction, smirked at me and laughed excitedly before running as fast as shecould out of the door in front of her. I don't think giving Raven explosiveswas the best idea I've ever had but, she gets the job done: more or less. Thehigh pitched shrill of alarms and large amounts of footsteps charging up thesteps next to the room I was in signalled my cue to leave.
Silently, I pulled the ice cold handle downwards and push the door out of my path. Freezing, anxious and tense I headed straight for mynext location. Here I was, One hunk of metal way from the vault, I raised myhand to my ear and spoke firmly,
"Scarlet, how close are you to getting the code?"
"already got it 44368 7756439," A voice of the endof the line announced.
why'd i even doubt her? I caught my breath while punching the numbers intothe keypad. Groaning, the door slid open and the shiny surface of the vault door shonewith promises of victory.
Suddenly a ringing sound sprung from my pocket and made me jump in fright. DAM i need to change my ringtone! I pull my phone out of mypocket and notice it's Darcie so it must be important.
"What's wrong Darcie?" I ask concerned.
"Well i guess as your answering this you haven't openedthe vault yet," She began," the vault rigged with explosives yourgonna have to disable them first, I'm sending Lola your way." I stoodguard for about 10 minutes and sure enough Lola turned up, equipment in hand. She set to work disabling them one at a time; once or twice I contemplatedasking her to hurry up as i don't want to stay here any longer than I have tobut I avoided it as it's best to leave her alone while she' working. We don'twant her stressing out and then... well bad stuff happens.
After about 20 minutes she walk backward to join me andnodded triumphantly. I took my place infront of the panel and once again turned our earpieces on.
"Scarlet I need the vault number stat" I saidtrying to speed up this mission knowing Ava won't be able to keep themdistracted for too much longer.
"try 41618" she replied. I tapped the combinationin and successfully opened the vault. Taking the required papers and a bag fullof cash as payment for my extra troubles. Lola and I hopped out of a newly discoveredwhole probably caused by Ava and her destructive tendency's, she's almost asbad as scarlet sometimes...
Racing to the car we hopped in and Lola started the engine. We waited just long enough to see Ava and Scarlet scramble into the other carbefore jetting off at full speed back to base. Another successful mission: or at least close enough.
