Who Am I - Chapter 7
“I wish I could, but I can’t.” Sam said disappointed.
“Oh, it’s alright.”
“I really would get together with you but I have a practice really early tomorrow, I think I have to be there for 5.”
“It’s alright, I understand, I know you are really focused on hockey.”
“I know that it is a school night tomorrow, but are you free?”
My heart started to race, I was almost too happy to speak. I managed “Yes.”
“Great I will pick you up tomorrow, is seven OK?”
“Seven is perfect.”
“See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow.” My smile was too big to be erased. I wore my smile proudly, just until my head hit the pillow.

“Do you need a ride to school?” Erica asked as she grabbed a bowl of cereal and sat with me.
“Sure.” I said between my bites of my sugar cereal, I know it’s bad for you, that it is not healthy. But I love the sugar cereal for kids, its what I looked forward to every morning.
“Let me know when you are ready.” Erica said, she finished her cereal and was at the sink, rinsing her bowl.
“Can I ask you a favour?” I asked nervously.
“Sure, anything.”
“I have a date tonight and I-” Erica dropped her bowl and she was in shock, her jaw dropped to the floor.
“Say no more!” Erica interrupted me. “When is the date?”
“Seven.”
“When I get back from a meeting, I will help you with getting ready.”
“Ok, thanks, what meeting do you have to go to?”
“Oh, right some agency is looking for a full time model, for some clothing line, and they are doing and information meeting.”
“Is it just you going?”
“Oh, no there are a lot of girls going to this.”
“Do you think you have a shot?”
“I don’t know it’s hard to say, and even if I do get in, I don’t know if I want to actually do it, because of mom and dad.”
It fell silent, I was thinking of what happened that other night. Are my parents even here?
“Sometimes,” I told Erica as I got off of the chair, “It’s worth the risk.” I left the kitchen shortly; I went up to my room and got ready for school. I looked over at my alarm clock and it is 8 o’clock.
“Erica!” I screamed. “I’m ready.” I grabbed my book bag, and went down the stairs. Erica was sitting on the couch flipping through a magazine.
“Ok, let’s go.” Erica smiled, she got off the couch. We both headed towards the door. We went to the jeep, and that’s when I remembered, I forgot my lunch.
“Crap. I forgot my lunch. Give me a minute.” I hopped out of the jeep quickly, and opened the door wide. I quickly jogged to the kitchen and grabbed my lunch; I was almost out the door when I heard a loud laugh. I looked up the stairs and saw a woman. At first I thought it was my mom. But then she came closer. She was wearing my dad shirt, and nothing else.
