I was bleeding… but from what?? Gun fires were still shaking the building like loud rumbles of thunder.
The boy looked almost as scared as I was. Blood and Aymie do not mix very well. My eyes were huge as ones of a raccoon, as I looked down at my swim uniform. There it was, a hole gushing out blood just out of the side of me hip. The red had even stained the red suit, yet the hole was not oozing out with insides. It was a clean cut from a bullet, over an inch in diameter.
I began having a mental break down, swinging my arms in rapid circles. I HAD BEEN SHOT!
“I’ve been shot!,” I screamed in fear, “There’s a hole through me! I’ve been shot!”
The toddler also began to cry. Five people came rushing from the gym, two men and three women.
“Help! Blood! Get a band-aid!” The redheaded toddler cried holding on to a woman’s leg.
“She will more than that sweet heart…” she said calmly holding on to his shoulders. “Go on back to the gym an find your mother. We are doctors and we’ll help her.”
He nodded, tears streaming down his little face.
The doctors crouched down beside me. It was amazing how calm the doctors were. My breathing was completely out of control, making loud reciprocating huffs and puffs.
“What kind of pain are you in?” asked the skinny tall man with the glasses.
I couldn’t answer him. I could not take in any more information. Was I going to die? A shot though my middle left side could surely kill me.
My eyesight began to blur and blacken. I felt as if something was slowly clogging my ears, and my hearing was ever so slowly fading. Was I dying? I had the same feeling when I smacked the bottom of the pool when I was three. It was over, now it was over.
The world got cloudier and cloudier until it went completely black. I couldn’t hear or see anything, but I still had my thoughts. Was I in the afterlife?
The color of black slowly began to fade into a bright turquoise blue. I was completely perplexed… What was happening to me? The turquoise became clearer and clearer until it looked almost HD. It had different shades of blue and slight variation of white. It seemed to sway back and forth in a calming way. It looked like water. The image zoomed out; I could see it was water, pool water. It was the pool water of the community pool. I could see the entire pool now, the people and everything, except I couldn’t move. It was as if I was watching a movie. I could not make any interaction with the environment. Then in the deep section of the pool, there was bubbles and small waves on the surface of about one yard of water. I could tell that there was something under the surface, deep down. At first, it just looked like a bright pink blur, but then I realized that it was a young child. I had to do something, she was drowning. I told my legs to move but they were glued to the pavement. The whole world was not even acknowledging me. I couldn’t do anything; the girl was going to drown.
An utterly familiar teenage boy with bleach blonde hair brushed past my shoulder as he ran toward the pool. He jumped right in and surfaced with the girl in his arms. I let out a huge sigh of relief, but my relaxation did not last long. The girl’s long dark brown hair was plastered against her face. She took her little arm and pulled the strands behind her ears. I began to realize something. I was having a flashback. That little girl was me.
Suddenly the whole entire image began to blur and fade away. My stomach was throbbing, it was surely over now. Yes, It was surely over. I tried my best to relax my muscles and just let it happen. Taking a deep breath, the image became completely black.
