Mossfall curled her tail around her one surviving kit, the other two had died and not yet named. There was a horrible storm going on during the night and the wind had torn holes in the thunderclan nursery walls letting in the freezing leaf-fall rain and cold winds that buffeted what was left of the camp.
Mossfall squinted as she waited for her mate to help her with her kit. Staring up at the dark stormy night sky she had a idea. I'm going to name you Brightkit she thought trying to feel less stressed about her clan mates and herself. The light that shone through the storm Mossfall thought with a small smile.
Oakleaf skidded to a halt by the entrance of the nursery. He jumped in away from the wind and rain
"No need to talk, Foxstar is evacuating the camp through the tunnels, let's go!" He nudged her as he picked up Brightkit.
Brightkit squirmed when he father picked her up. She mewed blindly flailing her paws as she swung side to side in the wind. Mossfall and Oakleaf ran to the rock tunnel in the wall and scrambled through cramming in with all the other cats that were taking shelter there.
Forestfoot, an elderly medicine cat, was smushed nearby them with a couple other elders and warriors. When she saw them she moved closer to see Mossfall's newest kit.
"You kitted!" She gasped with a smile. The others gathered around and began to quiet down.
"What's the name?" A cat near the back yowled over the wind.
Mossfall paused for a second "Brightkit" she mewedForestfoot stared down at the brown and beige dappled she-kit, as if she was examining her.
"She's going to be different, Mossfall, I can tell" Forestfoot mewed quietly to Mossfall.
"And we will have to cope with it.."
She added under her breath.
