Authors note: Here it goes..
--------------------------------------------------
I never wanted to "fall in love". Love was the only thing that opened you up enough to hurt you. Love made you hopeless, love made you weak. The best thing for me was to keep everyone at arm's length.
And one day it happenned, I fell helplessly and hopeless, and with Harry Styles.
LA FITNESS roughly 8 AM
---KRIS' POV---
I felt the sweat on my forehead as I turned the treadmill up to a faster speed. I dipped my head down as I ran on, enjoying the burn of the final sprint, headphones blaring encouraging pop songs to numb my mind's constant buzzing. I looked down at the machines board as I neared my 10th mile. Atta girl, I thought to myself, proudly. I turned the treadmill down to a slow walk as I began my colldown, listening to my heart pounding in my ears, drowning out the croon of Justin Timberlake's newest hit. I pulled the headphones out of my ears as I listened to the sound of my own breathing. Focusing on the air rushing in and out of my lungs, I set my hands on my aching sides. Man, I really need to run more. My onyx-black hair had begun to unravel from its high bun and I flicked wisps of black out of my face, wiping my neck with a small towel.
"SHIT!" I exclaimed as my phone's violent vibrations startled me.
I sighed as I saw the caller ID: MADSYMAE CALLING...
"Hey Mads, whats kickin'?" I answered as I leisurely hopped off the, now still, treadmill. I had been at the gym in West Hollywood for three hours already, beating the pre-work rush and savoring the empty gym. People had already began to fill the machines around me, looking like twiggy zombies desperate for a kickstart to their day.
"Kris, it is 8 o'clock in the morning, how are you even functioning?." my best friend's voice came groggily across the connection. I smiled simply into the phone as I shifted it onto my shoulder.
"Because, I am mad, my dear. Absolutely mad." I called into the phone as I made my way towards the locker rooms.
"You can say that again," she mumbles into the reciever, "Now let me dish before I have to get ready for work.."
I laughed into the phone as she went on a tangent of whatever boy she had her eye on at this moment. Madeline Bass, my only close friend of four years, was as different from me as smoke and water. She was fashionable and charming, able to recite designer and models at lightning speed, and also impart her opinion of them. Currently, she was interning with one of the upcoming new fashion magazines, and was completely at home with the startlingly fast lifestyle that was journalism. She constantly came gushing at me about clothing and makeup, but I just didn't understand it all. I could see the appeal, but it was just not my world. She had begun to shift her topic to celebrity gossip, which I DEFINITELY had no knowledge of, when she stopped suddenly. Her voice going soft, she paused before speaking.
"You're still not getting much sleep, are you, Kristal?" I heard the words cut across the phone connection. Sighing, I lowered myself onto a bench beside the lockers. I dropped my head into my hand as I gripped the phone desperately, as though it were my only lifeline.
"I can't make them stop, Mads. Everytime I close my eyes, I see him. Its like I'm listening to his words on a broked record, they just keep whispering over and over in my head." I quietly murmur.
"Kris, babe, you can't live like this. You never sleep! It's like your either at the gym or in your studio, you're going to wear yourself out!," she reprimanded me like a young mother, as I heard her shift out of bed and begin to get ready for work.
