After arriving home Alison stumbled into bed, falling into a deep sleep; Dominic's arms wrapped around her keeping her safely tucked to his chest. As Alison slept she dreamt, dreamt of a friend long dead. Who opened her arms wide for the friend she had been taken from on that fateful day. Alison was aware she was dreaming but it felt so real; her friends arms were warm and soft holding her tight like the years before, the meadow they stood in felt real and smelt real. She could faintly hear the buzzes of a number of bugs and the sun shone on them enveloping them in its warmth.
"This can't be real." Alison thought out loud, her voice becoming a little muffled due to her face crushed against her friend shoulder. Her friend stood tall and her skin a healthy tan "It is real." She spoke; Alison felt tears appear in her eyes "The only way the moon goddess would let me contact you is through your dreams." She continued her smile small.
"Why?" Alison asked the friend she lost; the question could mean a number of things really, 'why did she leave them?' or 'why was she here'. The beautiful brunette answered the latter "I'm here to thank you" Alison gave her a confused look "thank you for looking out for him." Aliso nodded her head, understanding who she was talking about "all I could do was sit by and watch, watch him drink himself to death and then you stepped in." the girl flashed her pearly whites in a generous smile "I just wanted him to be happy, and you made him rethink everything, made him realise I would be so disappointed in him," she sighed her hand coming up to push hair out of her face that the wind gust pushed in the way " and I was, so disappointed; I want him to be happy." Her eyes were filled with sadness "The moon goddess tells me, a good thing will come his way soon." She whispered "please Ali, please make sure he's happy?"
Alison nodded her head eagerly in agreement "I will do all I can." She promised her long lost friend; who grasped the others hand tightly in hers "Now Ali, you have to promise me something else?" she asked her friend "anything" Alison replied "promise you will be happy."
Tears rolled freely down Alison's cheeks, "I promise."
Her friend started to fade a large smile on her face, the hand she held loosened and then she was gone. And Alison realised that would truly be the last time she ever saw her friend who felt more like a sister to her, her sister Kirra.
.....
When Alison awoke she found herself held tightly against a warm firm chest; moving up and down with every breath her mate took. Alison wiped away the tears that streamed down her face taking a deep breath she shook Dominic lightly waking him from his slumber. She planned to keep her promise with Kirra, she would be happy; happy with the man she would come to love, her mate.
Dominic gazed at her sleepily looking at the clock on the bedside table; it read three in the morning. He looked at her curiously "will you help me pack tomorrow?" she asked sheepishly, Dominic smiled wide; the words she said guaranteed she would be happily moving to his pack; feeling relief wash over him he answered "of course, now shall we go back to sleep?' Alison nodded laying her head on her mate's chest falling to sleep almost instantaneously, a large smile spread over her lips.
