Peter and I went to the Bean House to grab some cold, refreshing drinks and we headed out.
"So Pete, what do you have planned for today? You seem like an exciting type of guy. How bout'-" I was cut off by Peter.
"Kayla. Kayla! Calm down. .....I was just thinking we could go to my house and chill."
I quickly responded so he wouldn't feel bad," Oh yeah! Okay. That sounds totally exciting!" I wasn't looking forward to having a snooze-fest at his house. Peter is a really great guy but his family is the TOTAL opposite. One time I went there for dinner and it was creepy. I could feel the eyes of his mother and father staring at me. I get the shivers just thinking about it.
"Hey Petey, ummm will your parents be there?" I ask. I really hope he says no.
"Nope" he says but then he finishes," Just you and me.... And my grandma!"
"Oh boy!" I try to say this in the most exciting voice ever.
He drives us to his house. The house is just so beautiful and isolated from the other kids in high school. Peter's house is so welcoming and beautiful. It's a place to be yourself. It is surrounded by the forest and looks like a cabin. When I'm older I want to live with my family in a place like this.We walk in and I immediately see Peter's grandma rocking slowly on her rocking chair.
"Hey Petey Pooh! Is this the girl you always talk about? Oh my yowzers! She is so beautiful! But not as beautiful as I was! Oh I just can't wait till you love birds get married and live in this house!" His grandma says in a loud, ecstatic voice.
"Petey Pooh?" I try to hold in my laughter because I can see Peter's face turning bright red.
"Grammy this is Kayla. We are just friends...I think." Peter says quite embarrassed. "Well anyways, Kayla I'm going to get some pizza for us. I'll be back soon."
"Okay, but get a small. I have to go to Anna's house after this and eat even more. Drive safely!" I remind him.
"Bye ladies!" Peter says as he exits to get the pizza. So now it was just Peter's grandma and I and let me tell you it was AWKWARD. She is staring at me and it all reminds me of the family dinner I had. Creepy. All of a sudden, she leans forwards and starts mumbling.
"With all due respect ma'am are you trying to say something?" I am confused. Is this going to be 'the family dinner' all over again?
She looks me in the eye and leans closer. "You're the one." She says while looking at me straight in the eye with a focused look on her face.
"The one?" I reply. Where is Peter? This is really uncomfortable.
"You have a faint grey dot in your eye. And a streak of blonde in your hair. Just like the description my darling." She slowly starts to grin. She leans back and forth in her chair.
"Are you okay? What description do you mean?" I ask bewildered.
"Oh sweetie, I can't tell you that. I've already said too much?"
"Too much about what?" I'm as curious as a kid going to school for the first time. What is this old lady talking about?
"My days here are coming to an end. We can all see it coming. Oh I was so close to finishing the quest. Librazs is going to be so disappointed in me." Peter's grandma continues. "I'm giving you a key darling but not just any key I'm giving you THE key. You must finish my quest."
"What quest? What are you talking about?" I quickly asked.
"I've told you too much sweetie poo. You can figure out the rest like I did when I was your age. But most importantly you cannot tell anybody about what we just discussed. If this information gets in the hands of the wrong person the kingdom is doomed. Well, now it's time for my afternoon nap!" She got up and walked up the stairs. At that moment Peter walked in with the pizza.
"Pizza's here!" Peter yells with a voice louder than a roar of a lion.he looks around. "Where's grandma?"
"She went for a nap." I tell him.
"Well let's still enjoy this pizza. " He opens the pizza box. " Mmm. Smells good Kay. Dig in."
"Actually Pete, I got to go. Anna is waiting for me." I lie to him. I want to leave now. This house was too weird.
"I though you said you would go at 7..." He replies awkwardly.
"You know girls.. We say a time but we mean another!" I hate lying.
"Okay then, but what about the pizza. It's the good kind. It was expensive."
"PETER." I say in a frustrated voice." Sorry but I have to leave. I'll just take some pizza to-go."
"Fine! Just take it and leave," He says the angriest tone I've ever heard come out of sweet Peter's mouth.
"Peter, what's wro-" I got cut off.
"You're wrong! You know what I actually thought we could spend time together. Alone. But no, you have to turn into little Ms. Selfish and leave like always." His face is bright red.
"P-Peter," I stutter. "I'm sorry I just really have to go."
"Why?" He looks anxious.
"I-I can't tell you." And just like that I walk out the door and leave.
