Quick warning for any younger readers, and those who are more "sensitive," now that Jackie is entering the story, there will be ocassional cussing whenever she's involved. Just a little heads up for ya :)
Also, this chapter is dedicated to my darling Leo-san for being such an amazing friend. Love you, girlie! ;D
Chapter Two
Jackie's P.O.V
"You're sending me where?!"
Cheryl winced at the shrill tone of my voice, looking exhausted as she said, "A summer Bible camp, Jacqueline -"
"Jackie," I cut in. I hated my given name. It sounded too much like some old grandmother's for my taste.
"- that several others will also be going to."
"At least I won't be alone in hell," I mumbled crankily, picking at the chipping polish on my fingernails.
"It's a two month long ca-"
"Two months!" I shot upright in my chair, glaring over the desk at the social worker. "Are you fucking serious?"
"Language, Jacqueline," Cheryl reprimanded, her tone flat from a scolding issued thousands of times.
"English," I replied snippily with a sarcastic smirk.
Cheryl sighed heavily, brushing her strawberry blonde hair behind one ear. "I've told you this time and time again, you're not going to be leaving until your reports improve. And they won't improve until your attitude does, and I can't lie to -"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. You can't lie to the child support peoples," I muttered flatly, sliding down in my seat again. "Damn, woman, have you always been such a goody-two-shoes? And don't answer that. Just finish with your shitty news so I can get out of here."
She didn't scold me for cursing this time, just glanced down at her papers with an almost resigned expression. "Like I was saying, the camp lasts for two months, and you'll be at a working horse ranch, so there will be activities other than social groups, Bible readings, etc.. I have a list of rules as well as things you'll need to pack here -" she paused to hand a small pamphlet to me, "- which you need to read over before you leave."
"No duh," was my sarcastic mutter as I snatched the piece of paper, seriously debating shredding, maybe burning, it instead of actually reading the contents.
Ignoring that, Cheryl said, "Everything else will be part of a group announcement later tonight to everyone going. So you can go." Usually sessions were longer, but it seemed that I'd successfully worn her out enough to escape early. Barely resisting flipping her off over my shoulder as I left, I settled for slamming the door behind me with a satisfying bang.
"Hey girl." As I headed down the hall, someone came up beside me and looped an arm around my waist. I didn't need to look to know it was Tyler, my "boyfriend." There was nothing official about us, other than shagging on a regular basis, but I refused to be known as his booty call. No one owned me, and he'd settled for that after a while, as long as he got what he wanted when he wanted. And I wasn't going to complain about that, since our urges were very much the same.
"Don't you 'hey girl' me," I snapped, making him chuckle and pull me closer. Cocky bastard. The only reason that I didn't knee him where the sun don't shine was because I doubted he'd ever recover, and I'd end up missing the performances I could get from Tyler Jr..
Tyler sing-songed in my ear. "You know you love it!"
"Since when do you know what I'm thinking? You hardly know what's going on in your own head," I scoffed, finally looking up at him. Far too cheerful hazel eyes under an unruly mess of dirty blonde hair and above a kiss-ass grin and nose that looked like it'd had one too many run-ins with a baseball, or someone's fist, stared back at me.
"You should be familiar with my womanizing skills by now, sweetie," he said smoothly, making me roll my eyes and look away again, though not quick enough to avoid a swift kiss from him.
"Fuck off, will you?" I muttered half-heartedly, trying to push him away. Which, of course, resulted in him seeing the pamphlet Cheryl had givne me and he promptly snagged it. And he could keep it, for all I cared.
"Oooh, so you're going too?" His words were somewhere between a comment and a question as he looked up at me with a lifted eyebrow and pursed lips, one of his signature looks.
"What do you think?"
"But you said I can't think." Twisting away to barely avoid a punch from me, Tyler snickered. "Yup, you're going. That would at least explain why you're in an even shittier mood than normal."
"Glad you noticed." I squinted slightly as we stepped outside into the sunlight, not bothering to look around at the cabins and fences that I knew surrounded us. Living at Broken Stone (I know, perfect name, right?) Correctional Facilities for Teens actually wasn't too bad, considering what some of us had done. We could potentially be rotting at juvenial hall . . .
"So, we gotta be at the meeting tonight, but I got nothing till then, soooo." Tyler looked at me expectantly, and I smirked slightly. I should've known that he wasn't trailing me like a lost puppy just because he wanted to talk. Nope, he was a very physical boy.
"Fine, alright. I'll meet you at the pool in ten." Which meant we'd be meeting in the storage shed behind the pool. Same difference.
"Sounds good." One more kiss that I would've thought affectionate if I hadn't known better, and Tyler was loping away towards his cabin. I sighed heavily, running my fingers through my hair. Maybe this could help me get my mind of the future, at least for a little while . . .

And since we all know what they'll be doing, I see no need to go any further >:}
But yes, maybe a tad short, but that got two more characters in the picture, one major, the other more secondary but still important to the plot, and gave everyone a feel for their personalities, hopefully.
No song for this chapter, though I suppose "Trouble" by Pink was lurking in the back of mind as I wrote =P
