Chapter Eleven
You jolted awake. Cold sweat has made its way down your chin from the temples of your face. The curtains were closed, barricading the light from illuminating your room. You groaned, closed your eyes and waited for sleep to come again. Unfortunately for you, even the slightest fleeting moment of sleepiness failed to come towards you, facing you to wake up at 9am on a Saturday. A nightmare had woken you up, though you don't remember what it was about. All you remembered was that definite shock-like feeling of falling off a cliff that woke you up from whatever it is that you were dreaming. While taking a deep breath you opened your eyes, sat up and looked at your surroundings. Usually, your mother would've woken you up by opening your curtains (much to your dismay) and rudely waking you up, but since you woke up early today you decided to just keep your curtains closed because you were too lazy to open them. You got off from your bed and walked towards the bathroom to brush your teeth. You then walked downstairs to fix yourself a bowl of cereal and orange juice. Your mother, upon seeing you walk in the kitchen with only your pajamas was surprised to see you up this early. She had made some omelets for the morning and kindly offered them to you, which you kindly accepted. Now that you've gotten some omelets for breakfast, you decided to just leave out the whole cereal idea and ask your mom to pass the orange juice for you. As she hands down the cold fresh glass of said juice, you had completely forgotten the universal rule that toothpaste and orange don't mix. The second you sipped the juice that was kindly handed to you by your mother, your tongue felt like it just tasted death itself; your eyes went wide and water formed at the bottom of your eyes, you felt the hair stand up on the back of your neck and spat out the foul tasting juice as fast as you can. You quickly grabbed the nearest paper towel and wiped the mess that you've made. "What happened? Are you okay?" You coughed a little and drank your dad's cup of coffee, which was hot but helped you get rid of the sickening aftertaste in your mouth. "Mhm, I'm alright. Just forgot that when mixed together, orange juice and toothpaste taste like battery acid" Your mother laughed and handed you a glass of water instead. You quickly finished your omelets and drank up your water, "So mom, dad are you guys still going out today?" Your dad sipped his now warm cup of coffee and nodded, "Your mother and I have a dinner reservation in that new vegan restaurant not too far from here. We're also planning to get groceries some time today, so that should give you plenty of time to study with Sasha, right?" You still kept the fact that Levi was going to come over away from your parents since convincing them to go without you proved to be much harder than you thought. You told them that you were going to have Sasha come over to help you out with your science project since your parents will freak if they find out that they'll be leaving their precious daughter alone with a boy, much less Levi. You didn't like lying to your parents, but sometimes a little white lie is needed for things to work out. "Oh yeah, sure. That'll do, just don't forget to bring me back some leftover cake or something." After finishing your breakfast, you got up and washed your dishes then went up to get a quick shower. You started to regret not asking Levi for his phone number because you kept on worrying that he wasn't going to show up. But it would've been weird though if you did, besides you wouldn't even work up the nerve to ask him about it. Talking to him made you a stuttering mess sometimes, you were always so focused on the idea to not screw up or stutter in front of him. Perhaps it's that which made you a nervous wreck around him. However for the past few days, you haven't been stuttering when talking to him like you used to so that must've been an accomplishment, right? What a weird turn of events, you've been paired up with Levi but you've gotten Eren's number instead. You thought of what Eren said a few days ago, maybe he won't even show up after all. You know what, if he doesn't show up after 2, I'm calling Eren for some help, you thought. You then helped your mom with the dishes and went up to take a shower.
