The Gymnast with One Foot

Chapter 8

When Jenna walked into the small and cramped hospital room and saw Kelsey with her broken leg, Jenna burst into tears because she knew she would be out for a very long time from gymnastics. "So how's it going" mumbled Jenna, "Not good I have to have surgery tomorrow,they have to put a rod in my leg" Kelsey replied, "How long will you be out of gymnastics?", " Seven months" Kelsey said sadly, "Oh that sucks", "I know" ," Can you come back later I'm about to be given medicine that will make me cranky" Kelsey said, "Ok I'll come back later", "Bye","Bye" Kelsey said. As Jenna walked into the lobby,she saw that her mom looked sad and looked like she was about to cry. She was quiet until we got into the car. "How was Kelsey","Umm not so good,she's having surgery tomorrow" Jenna replied,"oh I hope she does okay", "yea so do I ". Then mom started to cry and shake,then said that they need to talk about something at home. When they walked into the house her mom told her to sit with her on the couch to talk. "Your father and I have been having trouble with each other,and for the past couple of weeks we have been arguing non stop,so we decided that we are going to sign for divorce",then Jenna ran up to her room and cried for a couple hours and then went to sleep without dinner. 

The next day they had practice and she had struggled on some skills and was easily distracted. "What's wrong"Coach Kyle said,"Nothing"Jenna replied,"Are you sure you look sad" ,"I'm fine"Jenna replied,"Okay". After practice Jenna hid herself in the pit so she could stay at the gym all night! After Coach Kyle closed up the gym,Jenna grabbed a long piece of rope and tied it. Then she stacked all the mats so she could reach the pole close to the ceiling and kicked all the mats down,tied the rope around it and put her head through the hole she tied on the rope!When she let go and tried to hang herself, a black figure rushed at her,the rope let lose and dropped. Jenna fell at least twenty feet to the ground and landed on her back.As soon as she landed her back made a loud cracking sound that filled the gym, her head started to bleed and she was unconscious the whole night. 

Kelsey and Coach Kyle were the first ones in the gym and soon as Kelsey saw Jenna on the floor she screamed and hoped to her and checked her pulse.When she felt it she was relieved,but she still had to call the ER because she had a wound on the back of her head and her back looked deformed. 

Kelsey and Jenna's mom were waiting in the lobby to hear what kind of damage was done when she fell. The doctor came out and said, "She has a very bad bone fracture in her back,a bad wound on the back of her head,and a small fracture in her neck", "Well is she going to be able to do gymnastics ever again" Kelsey asked, "I am not sure but if I had to answer my answer would most likely be no" the doctor replied, "Please do the best you can to fix this" Jenna's mom said, " She's going to be okay she will just be out for awhile" , "How long?" Kelsey asked ," For a least seven months" the doctor replied,"Can we see her? Is she awake yet?" , "You may see her but she is not awake yet" the doctor replied, "Ok thanks". When they walked into her room they both teared up and started to cry. They came up to her bedside and hugged her gently. Then Jenna was slowly starting to wake up! "Where am I" Jenna mumbled , "You're in the hospital "Kelsey said ,"What happend?" Jenna asked, "You fell and have a bad fracture in your back,a bad wound on the back of your head,and a small fracture in your neck"Kelsey replied,"Will I be able to do gymnastics again?" ,"Probably not" Kelsey replied sadly.Then Jenna started to cry and said for Kelsey and her mom to come back later. Kelsey walked out of the room and relized the girl with one foot does not live in her body and saved her life but why she thought she wanted revenge.
