Thank you Precious for editing! Your help means so much to me!

I don't even have time to scream. It hurts. It hurts. My heart hurts. Mommy and daddy are bleeding so much. I open my mouth to scream, cry, or wail, but everything goes black. I wake up as a stranger, the one who hurt mommy and daddy, opens the trunk of his car and pulls me out. Through blurry eyes I can tell we are surrounded by the forest, no one else for miles. A cloth is in my mouth making it dry and keeping me from screaming. The crunching of the snow beneath his feet left footprints. He enters the house and locks the door shut behind him.

He goes to the very back of the house passing by three doors, a kitchen, and a family room. He reaches a door to a room and shuts the door behind him. The room is nearly empty with only a wooden chair and a frayed rug occupying it. The stranger's dirty blonde hair flops into his face as he crouches down and leans his face too close to mine. He pushes his hair back from his head for me to get a glimpse at his frightening eyes.

"Puppet, don't even think of trying to escape. You'd break my heart, and a good puppet obeys her master," he slides a finger along my jawline. "Besides you don't want me to kill your mommy and daddy do you?"

My eyes widen in fear, and I quickly shake my head. He laughs, but his happiness scares me. He rubs his stubbly face against my cheek scratching it up. I'm too scared to move away. He grips my hair and tugs me forward when a phone starts to ring. He sighs and stands up looking down at me with something in his face that terrifies me. I don't know what he is thinking, but my gut feeling tells me it's bad.

"I'll be right back," he growls.

I shrink back against the wall. He turns around and leaves the room locking the door behind him. I look for a way to escape and spot a window high up above me. I am much too little to reach it. His threats scare me, but he has already hurt my parents. He isn't a good person. My parents taught me who good people are.

I shove the wooden chair closer to the wall with the window and grab the frayed rug up from the floor. I stand up on the chair bringing the rug up with me. The window was still a little too tall. I took a deep breath raised the rug up in front of my face and entire body. Then I jump.
