Thanks Leigh for editing. I have posted a oneshot for this story, as some of you have noticed. Also in the picture is Erin.
We met up with Sarah and the younger kids after Cameron picked out an outfit for himself in another shop. Sarah smiled brightly when I offered to help her pass out the snacks. She even made one for me. We all ate our fruit while Petre and Felix excitedly told us that they had played hide and seek in the fitting room.
"So Emery, do you have any plans for the future?" Sarah asks me.
I pause from eating the fruits and answer. "Well my tennis coach Ms. Jackson says if I work harder I can become a professional tennis player. I'm not sure if that is the path I will take, but I have been thinking about it."
I gave Sarah the same response I gave the school counselor. I don't really know what I want to do in the future. I have never been able to see myself as a part of regular society. I never feel stable. Maybe I could be a camp counselor or something where I can interact with the forest.
"Well you still have some time to decide dear." Sarah advises with an understanding smile.
"How about you Cameron, do you have any future plans?" I inquire.
"He'd like to do anything as long as he's with you." Daniela teases.
Cameron decides to ignore her and answers my question. "I'd like to have enough land to farm and have horses. I really enjoy the life of living on a farm. I also like the idea of having a big family to come home to after a hard day of work."
"Wow seems like you've thought a lot about this. I'm quite jealous; your future plans sound nice." I complement.
"You'll find yours; don't worry Emery." Cameron comforts.
I grin up at him in thanks.
Sarah stands up. "Come now children. We should get going, or we won't be on time for dinner. Cameron are you dropping off Emery at her house?"
"I would, but Erin is in the neighborhood and has offered to do so." Cameron explains.
I turn to look at him in surprise. Why is he only informing me of this now? I haven't spent any time alone with Erin, and he is the most difficult of the boys to read. He always seems tense.
"Cameron you're the one who invited her over; you should be the one to drop her off." Sarah says sternly.
"Yeah Cameron, what kind of date are you?" Daniela argues.
"You can stop trying to push the two of them together now, Daniela." Rachelle laughs.
"Thanks Rachelle, but you don't have to find this all so amusing." Cameron sighs.
"I think it's a little too early in our friendship to call this a date. After all, we are still getting to know each other." I say with a wink at Daniela, Sarah, and Rachelle.
"Oh, so you're interested though, right?" Daniela beams.
"No comment." I reply with a teasing smile.
"Emery dear, you're welcome to visit whenever." Sarah smiles and pulls me into a quick hug.
Cameron closes his eyes and places his palm to his face. "Ugh, now they'll never leave me alone!"
"Mommy, I'm hungry." Petre whines.
"Oh yes, well, we should get going. Is Erin meeting us over at the house, or is he picking up Emery here?" Sarah checks as she picks up Magda keeping the little girl from picking up random wrappers on the ground.
