When the cars speed away like the wind, we lost our source of light as we were now surrounded by darkness, having the moon light to shine down at us. Some of the crowd turned their own headlights on while others had flashlights.
The race took longer then I'd expected, but I patiently awaited the winning car. I had my guess of who might finish first as I re read the notes I took earlier when I browsed the cars looking for something, anything that might be out of the ordinary. While I had my notes to entertain me I look up to see that the crowd is enjoying other things. The usual things; boos, girls, and some are even dancing to the loud music. However at this race there was a few dealers; I saw the transaction in front of me. This was something new at a race. Maybe I'll finally have some leads to follow. Suddenly my phone vibrated and the caller id flashed on the screen revealing that my beloved friend, Nolan, is calling me. Debating whether to tell him the truth or not I swiped to the right.
"Hey Nolan!" I said trying to move away from the noises.
"You're at a party and didn't invite me?" He asked as I failed to mask the loud noise of pumping music.
"Yeah it's a random party I stumbled across," I tried to sound indifferent.
"Where are you anyhow?"
"I needed a vacation," I shrugged.
"But you can't just pack up and leave the company with out telling anyone Hailey. It's your company for god sake," he let out a sigh, "I'm sorry you lost your dad and now your mom, but you have to be strong and take a control of your life. I knew your parents long enough to know this what they wanted for you."
Nolan has been there for my mother and I when the police told us they found my dad murdered, a bullet to the head, in his car. And in the passenger seat there was a young strange girl around her twenties, she too died of bullet to the head. After that Nolan has been there for me when my mother passed away from a heart attack a month after she found out. Nolan have worked for my dad for over ten years. I remember he would come over with my dad, he would even stay at our guest bedroom and join us for breakfast. He has managed every deals that has been done behind closed doors. He knew every secret about my dad, about the company.
"I'm sorry," I don't want Nolan disappointed, his like a big brother I've always wanted since I'm an only child. After four months, I'm still trying to cope and make myself a rock so that I won't be hurting any longer and to find the people responsible. Of course Nolan doesn't know that little detail.
"Don't be sorry, I understand," he cooed, "when will you be back?"
"Soon, maybe a week or two."
"Alright, make sure to keep in touch," he continued, "when your back there is a lot of things to be discussed."
"Okay, till then Nolan."
"Take care of your self Hails," and with that we both hang up.
Just as I pressed the screen to hang up, I hear a commotion and engine roaring from a far nearing quickly. It's the TVR being closely followed by the Tuscan. As they began to get closer to the finishing line the Tuscan breaths fire from its pipe and finishes seconds before the TVR does.
I could hear the boos and hurrays from the two poles in the crowd; the one who lost and ones who bid right.
"Who was the guy in the Tuscan?" I asked the joyful man next to me.
"A legend, Harry styles!" He beamed with joy and pride in his red eyes, probably from the alcohol.
"And the TVR?"
