michael //

michael was walking down the streets of amsterdam, just looking at people, making up little life stories in his head about some of them. that was something he did a lot, he liked the idea of making stories and writing but he wasn't patient enough, he always stopped after about 3 chapters because he got bored or had another idea that interested him more.

ashton was out of town for a while, on a trip with his girlfriend, so michael was left alone and since he was bored of the appartment he got into his favourite cafe and ordered a mint tea and got a booth next to a window, so he could still make up stories about people in his head.

no michael wasn't crazy, i swear.

but for a second michael thougt he was, as he heard the muffled voice of a boy he had heard before. he turned around a saw a tall figure who was dripping from the rain ordering something. the long legs in skinny jeans, the broad shoulders underneath a black hoodie made it even more clear, that it was luke hemmings.

michael thought it was destiny.

luke //

luke froze when his pale blue eyes met the, normally warm but now cold as stone, brown eyes from calum.
"well hello mister i quit" he said on a creepy calm tone. luke had never seen calum this scary. luke was too intimidated to say something back, while calum slowly came closer to him. luke opened his mouth to tell calum about his lost phone, but calum was faster and said: "i know you don't have your fúcking phone, i just want you to leave now please, leave. you fúcking ruined this, so dont ever think you can make it up with some dumb excuse"

in more than 10 years of friendship calum had never hurt luke, calum never hurt anyone who didn't deserve it. luke knew he fúcked up bad time and he also knew it wasn't worth trying to apologize because calum was still very very mad.
luke looked at calum, and saw deep in his eyes the slightest hint of guilt.
luke was slowly making his way out of the appartment, his hands full of stuff. before luke really left he mumbled a quiet "sorry" and stepped on the busy streets of the rainy city.

luke walked, thinking of what his face would look like, because he still didn't have his phone so he didn't know what his face looked like, he felt that it was swollen and maybe bruised, but really, luke couldn't care any less right now. it started to rain harder and soon lukes clothes were soaked. he decided that he needed some rest so he walked through the door of the very first cafe he saw, it looked cozy and cute, and suprisingly fall-ish for september. he walked in, meeting warm air and the smell of cookies and cinnamon. his stomach made a noise but luke ignored it.
he couldn't remember the last time he he had an actual meal, that was yet another problem of luke, he always forgot to eat and if he ate it was just a little snack. the bad habit he had always had started to develope once he lived on his own, calum was out eating usually so he never noticed. on tour he was always late for dinner and breakfast so he just ate the leftovers. luke felt a pressure to stay skinny for his fans eventhough he knew they wouldn't mind that much.

luke ordered a medium black coffee, noticed that the barista put a little heart next to his name but ignored it, he paid and took a seat in a corner of the little shop. he was glad he brought his laptop to take his mind off some things.

michael //

it was now or never, he thought, this was his chance to get rid of the phone and give it back, michaels eyes followed the boy, and he noticed that his cheek was reddish purple, like someone hit him, and that was probably what had happened. luke looked tired, but michael took all the courage he had and walked up to the boy with the steamy white paper cup and the laptop light making his face look even worse.

okay michael, you can do this, you just give the phone tell him that you found it when you bumped into him and walk back to your booth, cool.
"ehm, hey, this is gonna sound really weird but.." the blond boy looked up to michael, raised his eyebrows and smiled: "didn't i bump into you like, a week ago?"
michael felt relieved and answered: "yes that was me! god, im so glad you reconized me. okay so i found your phone" he smiled a little, handing luke the phone noticing that his hands were full of paint. fuck.
"oh thanks! here, go have a seat" luke took the phone and gestured to the chair next to him. michael felt a little awkward, a little flustered because a cute guy offered him a seat.
"i'm luke by the way" he said closing his laptop.
"oh yeah, i know, uhm your.." michael started a sentence but luke finished it; "code is easy as fúck and i stalked all your social media?"
michaels cheeks turned pink and he nodded, laughing. luke didn't look that relaxed, his face was too tired to actually show some emotions. "it's okay but you know, i can be an asshole i'm really good at that actually, if you do only the tiniest bit of research you find like a thousand examples. but i decided not to be that stupid asshole today" luke said, in the back of his mind he did heard a voice say: you have already been an asshole mission failed.

"oh, eh well thanks? i'm michael" michael said, taking a sip of his tea watching lukes hand play with a leave of the plant that stood on their table.
"can i maybe ask you what happened to your cheek, and face in general, you look kinda death" michael said bluntly, immeadiatly turning a shade of vermillion red.
he hated that he always said what came to his mind without thinking.

luke raised an eyebrow and glared at him. it was silent for what felt like 3 ice ages, but that was just michael interpretation of time. luke breathed in and started talking, faster than michael could have imagined.
"well, first of all, my sleep schedule is really messed up, i just can't sleep for more than like 4 hours, i don't know why, it just happened. so i look kinda death most of the time. second, i'm in a band, correction, i was in a band called 5sos and i started to think it was boring i was always tired and annoyed, of course not on stage but that's because i love being on stage, and maybe because i always tug down 3 redbulls before going up" he laughed, " anyway i quit last week and my bandmates.. well calum, i don't even know what's up with the other two, got really mad at me i stormed out, stayed in a hotel, lost my phone, which made calum even more mad, got back to the appartment to get some stuff, met calum there and he punched me, end of story" lukes voice cracked at calums name and he was on the edge of crying, luke hadn't talked about all this to anyone, and now he just let out everything to a stranger.
michael was shocked to get so much information on such a blunt question. luke looked so, fragile, but at the same time rock solid. he looked like he could use a hug. so that's what michael did. he gave luke the tightest, warmest and most loved hug he could. he inhaled lukes scent of rain mixed with expensive cologne. luke sobbed lightly on his shoulder, michael didn't mind.

michael was made of love, and glued back all broken pieces of luke. but when something is broken and you put it back together it never looks like it did before and it is much more likely to break again.
