"Heart and soul, I fell in love with you. Heart and soul, the way a fool would do, madly...because you held me tight...and stole a kiss in the night."
It is New Year's eve and Helena and I are seated in front of the grand piano in their ancestral house in Hampstead. Everyone in the family, from her mom to her youngest niece who were born on the same day as our wedding day were seated on the huge couch in front of us. They were all watching and listening to Helena playing the piano while singing with me.
"Heart and soul, I beg to be adored. Lost control, and tumbled overboard, gladly... That magic night we kissed. There in the moon mist." I leaned my head on her shoulder after I finished the stanza before she poked my cheek with her finger as she continued playing the piano."Oh but your lips were thrilling, much too thrilling. Never before were mine so strangely willing."
I kissed her shoulder blades and let her continue singing. Even if it's just through a song, I want to hear her say that she's loving me.
"But now I see, what one embrace can do. Look at me..." She looked and smiled at me as her fingers smoothly glided on the keys.
"It's got me loving you, madly... That little kiss you stole, held all my heart and soul..." gently, I held her cheeks before placing a soft kiss on the sharp tip of her pointed nose.
"Happy new year..." I whispered before feeling her small hand on my cheek as she placed a tender kiss on my lips.Everybody was clapping and Helena pulled back when George ran towards us and embraced my legs.
"Careful darlin', uncle Johnny's shoulder's still not better." She winks and George looks at me.
"How are you going yo sail now with your arms like that, Capt. Jack Sparrow?" He asks making me smile."Aunt Hellie will cast a spell on my shoulder so I'll get better soon, boy." I smile and comb his hair with my palms.
"Is that true, aunty?" He walks towards Hellie and sits on her lap.
"Yes dear. Aunty will heal Capt. Jack sooner than you think." She touches his nose with her finger and kisses his cheeks."Can we see the firecrackers now?!" George suddenly beams excitedly getting hyper on Helena's lap.
"Oh, yes! It's almost midnight. We better go now." Hellie lifts George in her arms and Tom immediately walks towards us to snatch his son from my wife.
"Come to Dada, George. Aunty has yet to recover from her surgery." He speaks and lifts the boy to his arm.
"I told you not to force yourself Hellie." He whispers gritting his teeth then smiles at the little boy he is now holding in his arms.
"Watch your wife man. She herself needs someone to take care of her too." He looks at my shoulder and snaps.
"Don't be beastly Tom. I'm fine, George isn't that heavy." She speaks and pinches George's cheeks when we both noticed that he's just cluelessly staring at her.
"What's ser...je... Serjer.. Aunty?" He asked obviously had no idea what his Dad was talking about.
"It's nothing dear. Just a little wound." She replies and comba his hair with her fingers like how I did earlier to the boy.
Virginia walks towards us with the infant Elizabeth in her arms and happily greets everyone a happy new year.I saw how Helena's eyes suddenly turned sad and longing when she took a glance on the baby in front of us. Virginia and Tom noticed it too and he immediately invites his wife outside to look at the fireworks that has just started to grace the London night sky.
"C-Can I...hold her?" Helena suddenly stops them and swallows hard. Her eyes aren't leaving the beautiful face of the infant smiling at her as she reaches her tiny hands towards Hellie.
Virginia glances at Tom whose facial features softened as he looks at his sister, Virginia then looks at me too and I'm just nodding gently as my response.
Virginia carefully passes the giggling baby to Hellie, and the tears on her eyes caught all of our attention even if she was able to take them back right away as she holds the baby in her arms."She's so lovely..." She speaks with her misty eyes focused on the smiling baby in her arms.
"She likes you..." Virginia says softly looking at my wife with so much sympathy in her eyes.
"We'll leave her to you then..." Thomas says as he wraps his arm around his wife's shoulders and walked with his family out to the garden.
