Spring's P.O.V.
My legs stretched wide as I galloped along the meadow. This gave me a good feeling, being able to run across the open field, the wind blowing through my tousled mane and cooling my sweaty skin.
My goal was to jump the white fence ahead of me. My strides lengthened as I ran straight for it. Adrenaline pushed me onwards. My human was calling me in the background as I bunched my muscles, ready to jump.
"Spring!"
The fence came closer, and now I was excited. I was wondering what life would be like outside of the fence. It would be great, not having to worry about when you have to work and when you have your off days. You could eat whenever you wanted, drink whenever you wanted, sleeped whenever you wanted, and moved whenever you wanted.
Life would be great.
Thinking about this just pushed me faster.
"Spring!"
My vision became fuzzy as I reached the fence. I leant back, and propelled upwards, near about to jump it when...
"Spring!"
My eyes jolted open and I whipped around. My owner, Anna, was walking towards me with my dark blue halter. I turned my back away from her. She had just ruined a perfect dream!
"Spring, you ignorant little horse, give me your head!" Anna slightly giggled as I nosed her back, trying to push her and the halter away. I didn't want to work.
"Spring!" Anna giggled again as I nuzzled her face. She finally managed to slip the halter over my face and buckle it.
I looked at her with a miserbale look, trying to get her to let me go. She wouldn't fall for the sad look.
As Anna walked me, I started limping, hoping that would do it. But I just ended up in trouble.
"Spring, quit that! Stop faking! I swear you are the biggest faker in this whole state..." Anna sighed, but laughed when something touched my ear and I shook my head.
Anna soon walked me to the barn. I was put in cross ties and groomed quickly.
Anna put her tack on the rack that was hung up beside me. She grabbed her black diamond saddle pad and flipped it over my back, settling it halfway up my withers. She then sat her jumping saddle down on my spine.
After wrapping and buckling the gerth around my stomach, she grabbed two navy blue polo wraps. She wrapped them around my legs, and then attached my bridle.
Anna put on her helmet and grabbed a dressage whip, and then lead me to the indoor arena.
Anna's trainer, Kaci, pulled a mounting block up to my side and helped Anna on.
Anna sat down on my back, adjusting her feet into her stirrups and then squeezing me lightly with her calves.
I moved forward.
"Good, remember to keep your weight into your heels! Sit straight and line your ears to your heel!" Kaci called to Anna.
I could feel sudden weight on the bottom of the saddle, and Anna raise off of my back.
"Perfect! We'll warm him up about 2 minutes, and then head to trot."
So, we walked for 2 minutes, and then Kaci spoke.
"Change diagonals, half halt your horse and squeeze with your calves! And remember not to pinch with your knees!" Kaci reminded Anna.
I felt pressure on both sides of me and went into a trot. Anna sat quietly on my back, moving with the rythem, but keeping still.
"Good! Now, position your legs for canter..."
Anna pulled one leg back.
"Now push with your outside calf and lightly tap on the inside reign to support her, and nudge her into a canter!"
Anna pulled my head sidewards a bit, and then tapped her heels into my sides. I moved to a canter for about a minute.
"Absolute perfection! Now aim him towards the combination."
