10 years later

"Violet! You get down here, right now." Luke scolded, waiting for the little six-year-old to run down the stairs like she sis whenever she'd get in trouble.

"Babe, it's fine - all kids do it." Michael sighed - running his finger over the marker now on the wall.

"But I've told her so many times not to draw on the walls!" Luke whined, Violet barreling down the stairs.

"Yes, daddy?" She said innocently, batting her eyelashes over her aqua coloured eyes.

"What is this?" He huffed, patting his hands over the lines scribbled over the walls.

"Your face!" She squealed, and then turned to run away - laughing manically.

Luke turned and frowned at the scribbled, messy, circle like shape on the wall in fluorescent pink.

Michael smirked and started chuckling, walking over and wrapping his arms around Luke's waist. "I think she messed up a little bit on your eyebrow, don't you see?"

Luke snorted. "Oh, yeah. Don't think my cheeks are on point in that."

Michael kissed his cheek and laughed, slapping his butt before he walked away. "Hey, get ready. Violet's excited for her 'posh dinner', can't let a six-year-old down now." He winked.

Luke playfully rolled his eyes before going upstairs and putting on his dress pants and dress shirt - slowly buttoning the shirt up.

He's happy. He's glad he's been happy for ten years now. He's glad he was able to have (well, adopt) a child with the love of his life. He's glad he's had the privilege to marry the love of his life. He's glad they've reached this far to be able to call this their tenth anniversary. It's also their 7th wedding anniversary, since Michael wanted to get marry on the day they started dating. You know, because he's romantic like that.

He's glad he answered Michael's text eleven and a half years ago. He's glad that Michael worried about him and didn't abandon the thought of Luke. He's glad Michael went to his house that day. He's glad they moved in together 9 months later. He's glad they've never broken up.

He's glad he's had Michael by his side since day one, to help him get over his problems. His darkness, darkness that carved a cave and held Luke captive in it. A cave only Michael could pull him out of.

"Babe?"

Luke blinked the thoughts away and turned to see Michael in the doorway; dress pants, dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and a tie half done.

Luke blushed at the thoughts of how much better he'd look without any clothes on and focused his attention on tying his tie.

"Hey, you okay?" Michael asked, pure concern on his face.

Luke hummed. Sighing as he felt Michael's hands rub his shoulders.

"You're thinking about something," he whispered - staring at the blue eyes looking back at him in the mirror.

"Us. I'm thinking about us and how far we've come." Luke answered back.

Michael sighed thoughtfully, before dipping his head down and kissing Luke's neck. "I hope it's all positive, bub."

"Of course," Luke whispered, closing his eyes. "I love you."

"Not more than I love you, though." Michael giggled, pecking his lips and running away.

"Daddy!" He heard Violet's voice call from her bedroom.

"Coming, sweetheart." Luke called out, quickly slipping his shoes on and going over to his daughters room.
