"Daddy?" Little 5 year old Amy asks her father pushing her ginger hair away from her face,
"Yes sweetie?" The Irish man replied with a big toothy smile on his face."I've just started big school and all and everyone is talking about their mums and I don't have one. Am I wrong?" Amy asks confused with having 2 dads and not having a heterosexual family.
"It doesn't make you wrong Amy, just because you have 2 dads doesn't mean you are anything less than the other kids" He says smiling and squatting to get to her level.
"Are you sure" She whispers as she looks up from the ground, brown eyes shimmering.
"Yes sweetie and anyway you're still my potato" Jack says poking her stomach making Amy laugh."Dad? Where's Daddy?" A curious 8 year old asks.
"He is saving the world Amy" Jack says tears threatening to spill.
"Why can't I see him?" She asks carelessly as she plays with her dolls and aeroplanes.
"Because he is all the way across the other side of the world" Stated Jack as a tear fell from his eye.
"Don't cry Dad, when he saves the world we can see him again and we have the pictures on the wall!" Amy said sitting in Jack's lap.
"We will see him soon" Jack says picking up a photo frame and staring at the photo of Mark in it.
"Wanna hear another story?"Every night Amy hears the same thing from her Father's room being whispered "Please let him be okay, Amy hasn't seen him since she was 7, I haven't seen him in 10 years please just let him be okay" The 17 year old doesn't know what to do anymore she can feel her father slipping further and further away from the world. As a tear slips from Amy's eye she whispers "He will be okay"
"We need to get out dad"
That was the sentence that made Jack's whole day.
"Sure you wanna go get lunch?" The Irish man says smiling as if nothing was wrong.
"How about we go to THE COLTS GAME" Amy pulls out 2 tickets
"HOW DID YOU?-OH MY GOD AMY"
Jack says happier than ever. The Colts was Mark's favourite NFL team, so every time they were in town Jack would try to get tickets but never could.
Little did Jack and Amy know is that Mark was home. His good friends Felix and Ryan are helping him surprise his family.
Jack and Amy were having an amazing time at the game and better they were winning! It was nearly half time and during half time they normally have a band play or the mascots make people laugh.
"Hello Indianapolis! I know you are expecting a band but we have something special for 2 lucky fans!" The man had blonde hair and was in a black and white suit from what Jack could see. Jack and Amy immediately got excited what if you got to meet the team? Or you won a holiday! They were so excited.
"We will call out 2 seat numbers and could those people please find the nearest security member and make your way down to the field" the stadium was nearly dead quiet.
The man sticks his hand into a giant bowl and pulls out 2 pieces of paper."And the winners are 354 and 355!" The man smiled. Amy jumped up and down pushing her blue hair to the side as Jack stood up smiling knowing the whole stadium was watching.
They followed the man's rules and made their way down to the field. The blonde man introduced himself as Sam and shook the pair's hands. "Give a congratulations to Jack and Amy!" The crowd roared you never know how loud the crowd can actually get until you are down on the field.
"Now could the colts cheerleaders please come out!"
(I don't know if they have cheerleaders I'm Australian)
Jack and Amy both confused carefully watched the cheerleaders come out in a triangular form, the cheerleaders slowly walked back into 2 lines showing someone standing in the middle.Mark
Mark was standing there with red roses in his left hand and a giant smile right across his face.
Amy ran towards him hugging him with all her might and crying on impact, while Jack stood there frozen thinking this was just a dream, tears fell from Jack's eyes when Mark walked right up to him and hugged him.
This was no dream.
He was back home.
