Chapter 1

"I hate you!! Just leave!"

Yep, that's what I woke up to every morning, the sound of my parents screaming at each other. I roll over and look at my phone, "it's only 5:45Am and it's saturday!" I whisper to myself before rolling back over and covering my head with my pillow. I fell back asleep shortly after, not even waiting to see how this fight ended.

I woke back up, this time it was 10:30 and the house was quiet. Which isn't a surprise because both of my parents are now at work, and all my siblings are still probably sleeping. I have 5 siblings, Elaina, she's 4, Trevor, he's 6, Justin, he's 13, and Maria, she's 14, then there's me, I'm 15, and my older sister Savannah, she's 17..

I sit up and stretch then put my robe on and walk out of my room, Elaina, Trevor, and Justin are watching SpongeBob on the couch, and Maria is in her room.

"Justin, Where's Savannah?" I ask him, he doesn't even acknowledge my existence, so I step in front of him and start waving my arms yelling "hello!"

"Get out of here kaitlyn!" He says pushing me away.

"Where's savannah?" I ask again, this time he looks at me.

"I don't know, I'm not her babysitter!" Justin shouts at me.

I just rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar.

Walking back to my room I pass Marias. "She can be sleeping still" I say to myself.

I knocked on her door, no answer.

I knocked again "maria!" I called.

I opened here door and peeked in, she was sitting there on the ground next to her bed with headphones in and sobbing, I also noticed she was holding a picture, it was our family Christmas picture from last year..

I walked up to her and sat down next to her on her soft white carpet. Without hesitation she pulled her headphones out and crawled right into my arms.

"What's up kid?" I ask moving her beautiful long ginger hair out of her face.

"Did you h-hear mom and dad f-fighting again?" She says in between huffs..

"Only for a second then I fell back asleep, why what were they fighting about this time?" I ask sincerely... she always has trouble expressing her feeling after my parents fight.. we all take it differently, usually when they fight if Elaina Wakes up she usually just comes and lays in bed with either savannah, Maria or I, then she's fine the next morning, Trevor will usually go in Justins room if he wakes up, he's also fine In the morning.. it's sad that those 2 think that this is just normal life, they're to young to realize what Is happening. Justin is strange, he somehow ignores it all, like nothing happening and it doesn't bug him, I don't understand how he does it. Savannah, well I don't know how she handles it, she can drive so usually after they fight she leaves for the day. Then there's Maria and I, I honestly think we handle it the worst. We just isolate our self and cry..

"They were fighting over money" She replies "mom said they don't have the money to buy food, and dad told her that if she had a real job they wouldn't be struggling, then Savannah came out and told them to grow up, and mom smacked her and told her to grow up and get a job, or move out so they have one less mouth to feed"

While Maria was explaining this I started to feel bad for savannah, and guilty for why they were fighting. And apparently Maria felt guilty to because next she said exactly what I was thinking;

"It's our fault they fight. If we didn't eat as much as we do they wouldn't have to worry about buying more groceries!"

I look at her with sad eyes and even though I was totally thinking the same thing, I didn't want her thinking it was her fault. "it's not our fault, we eat as much as we should, they're the ones who wanted to have kids, now they have to grow up and take care of them"

"You're right" She said as we were helping each other get off the floor.

"I love you kid" I say kissing the top of her head "Now go watch cartoons with the others, I'm gonna go text Savannah"

She ran off to the living room and I continued to my room.

Hey guys here's the first chapter. I hope you all like it!! The first 4 chapters I have already written in Google docs. It took me a while to decide to post this on here so I hope you guys like it!

PS some of this is based on my life, other parts are made up and people's names are changed. But yeah. Lol
