Laura's POV

The next day was Valentine's Day and I enjoyed it. It kept me from thinking about how much time I had left as a human and I was with Ross almost the entire day. He treated me as if I was the only girl in the world. At night he made his usual entrance through the window and when he sang me to sleep he sang Stuck On You. I remembered the first time he sang that song to me two years ago. I smiled as I listened. Ross's voice brought back memories I'd never let go of. These last two years have been the best years of my life and it was all because of Ross. I lost track of time again after that. Spring break came faster than I thought it would and it hit me that I only had less than three months left to be human. I was panicking. I was still panicking when Ross came through my window. He sat next to me and sang to me to calm me down.

"What's wrong?" he asked in a whisper.

I was still too panicked to say it out loud so I thought it instead.

I only have less than three months left, I thought.

"Don't think about that Laura. Just be happy that you still have time."

I'm scared.

"I know you are. Just try to think about something else."

A question suddenly popped in my head.

What's it going to be like when I become a vampire?

"I'll tell you later."

Why later? Why not now?

"Because you need to sleep now."

He kissed me and started singing softly to me until I drifted off to sleep.

Ross's POV

After spring break ended Laura completely lost track of time again and eventually graduation was only two weeks away but I didn't tell Laura that. I didn't want her to freak out. She didn't freak out until the teacher said that finals were next week.

I need to talk to you after class, she thought.

After class we went to the janitor's closet and locked the door. Laura's expression showed both fear and anger.

"Why didn't you tell me how much time I have left?" she asked.

"Laura I'm sorry. I didn't want you freak out and I forgot that finals were coming up."

She looked like she was going to cry. I hugged her.

"Should I extend how much time you have left as a human?" I asked.

"I don't know."

She seemed more and more afraid everyday after that. She knew graduation was coming and it was coming fast. I had to get the time she had left extended. I had to talk to Maia.
