I walked down the road, humming my favourite song while watching the little children run around. One little girl tripped over a toy truck and face planted into a pile of mud. I secretly laughed but showed my concern. Poor girl... (man I was so evil).

I continued walking and soon turned off onto the woods track, where I walked to meet him. Some people called him the son of the alpha, but I called him my best friend.

Yes, he may be popular but he wasn't a show off about it. He was nice and kind and you could call him a bit shy, but the loud type hidden behind his calm mask was always there.

And yes, I may be the quiet, shy girl in the background of every scene, but he helped me get my voice out there and let me get heard. He taught me to stand up for what I believed in and to never ever back down from my thoughts. It was nice to finally be noticed but there were changes in our life.

When I mean changes, I mean crazy things. Like firstly,

I am a werewolf. Shocking I know.

I'm the daughter to the beta of the pack.

Secondly, there is a thing called a mate, pretty much a soulmate (if you wanted to be technical about it). We would be able to find ours when we reach the age of 16.

And lastly, we are in a pack called Pure White Fern, west coast of New Zealand.

As I walked to my favourite spot in the world. I suddenly saw smoke pouring from out of a small shack. I dropped my bag and phone, knowing that the screen had smashed, but someone's life was more important.

I could feel my wolf kick in and she wanted to come out. I heard myself growl and I knew that put her in her place. It was mainly for her safety because it would be bad to hurt myself but worse to hurt her.

We barged in through the door and saw the fire rapidly increasing. I screamed out to see if anyone was okay.

"Is anyone in here? Please, we need to get out!" I yelled, my voice thick and slurring in the smoke surrounding me.

I heard a small whimper and saw a black wolf crouched in the corner. I quickly used my speed to pick her up and get her out, but the door was barged. Ugh, everything was going wrong today.

I was the type of girl who liked to do things myself, so instead of yelling for help, (which I should of done). I used my strength and quickly threw the burning log out of the way. I screamed as the flames burnt my skin, but the pain was more intense from something else.

Wolfsbane, fuck, I was locked in a shack, in the middle of the woods, with wolfsbane. Just my freaking luck.

Wolfsbane was a type of flower, the roots taken from underground that was ground together with some other bullshit chemically dangerous stuff to make some deadly stuff, to werewolves.

We had to get out, so I picked up the wolf, crushed her to my body and dived out. Finally thanking my dad for that self-defense training he did a few months ago. We rolled and ended up far enough from the shack that I could let go of the wolf and be safe from the fire and wolfsbane. I sent a mind link, they instantly connected and thanked me.

I knew that they would be naked when they switched so I shoved some clothes from my bag into their opened mouth and they quickly ran off. My wolf growled but I drew in deep breaths to calm her, the wolfsbane was agitating her a lot but I couldn't do anything if she was raging in my head.

Soon they came back and my eyes widened... Was this who I thought it was?

Teegan Verneta, most popular girl in school. She was a petty bitch and tried to fuck my best friend and was always being a slut around him to get him to notice her. But right now, she seemed so weak and tired. Her posture wasn't, 'I'm powerful, bow to me peasant' but was, 'I'm scared, alone, tired and I want to go home'. I felt pity for her, this was horrible, even if she was a shitty person.

She managed to stagger to me and collapsed next to me on the grass.

"Thank you for saving my life. I owe it all to you Tsunami." Her voice was dry and raspy, plus it felt weird when she said my name.

I quickly shoved my water bottle into her hand and she nodded her head. Then drank, until there wasn't anything left. She gave me the drink bottle back and laughed.

I was quite confused.

"What's so funny?" I questioned.

"I just remembered how that fucking prick locked me in there and then set on fire. He watched from the window for like a good five minutes before running away. I was going to run but, you know," She gestured at the burning shack and the strong smell of wolfsbane still lurking in my nostrils, "the wolfsbane weakened me. The funny thing was he had so much nerve to come here, threatening he'll take away everyone I ever cared about."

"What! Why?" I asked, shifting myself back a bit.

"Well he isn't from our pack, he was from a different pack but I couldn't even tell that he was. It seemed as if he belonged here, which is so odd now that I think about it."

"Maybe he was your mate?" I wiggled my eyebrows, trying to make a joke out of the whole situation. It was stupid but I thought she might smile, even laugh. But her face was still and maybe even more bitchier than usual.

"Please," she said, rolling her eyes, "If he was my mate, I might as well stab a knife in my throat."

I laughed awkwardly and then quickly picked up my bag and phone. I sighed as I saw the crack in it. It was fully broken as I tried to turn it on but it just stayed on the blank black screen.

"Is that yours?" She asked, snatching it out of my hands and looking at it.

"Yeah..." I mumbled.

"Let me get you a new one." She said, looking up at me with her blue eyes staring intensely at me.

"Why?" I asked, confused as hell.

"Well. One, you saved my life. Two, I surely wouldn't have dropped something like that for someone and three, I owe it to you."

I smiled, she knew what kindness was, "if you so desperately want to, then feel free. I need to go now, please go tell the alpha about what happened. He needs to know."

I patted her shoulder, feeling a new bond with her, something to help us relate, apart from my best friend. I headed off, quickly turned my head and called out, "Better be the latest iphone too!"

Then I jogged away, actually leaving her smiling.

Maybe I shouldn't have left, maybe I should have. Or maybe it was destiny because I never got that new phone.
