Dusk fell upon the auburn horizon. Kathleen tossed her camera in her backpack and made her way back to her uncle's mansion. At her young age of 19, she should still be with her parents, but the unfortunate news of their death had come seven years earlier. She now resided with her last relative, her dear Uncle Mitchell. The butler Alec opened the door and Kathleen made her at to the third story to kiss her uncle goodnight.
As Kathleen turned the knob and and entered the room, her uncle smiled, grateful to see his beautiful niece. She kneeled by his bed and pushed a strand of silver hair away from his forehead. Breaking the sincere silence, her uncle spoke.
" Kathleen, you know how I love you. And I hate to hurt you, especially at your vulnerable age. However... Dr. McPherson has told me that my lungs have cancer. "
" You'll be alright won't you? " Kathleen said , her soft voice cracked.
" I hope so. It will require several surgeries though." Uncle Mitchell whispered in her ear as they embraced. Kathleen tenderly kissed his forehead and left, leaving her uncle to rest. As she walked down the hall, she felt the tears swell up in her eyes. She ran into her room, slammed the door and sobbed until she fell asleep.

She dreamed she was on the beach bordering the east end of her hometown in Maine. She felt a hot tear run down her cheek as she heard a voice reassuringly telling her, that it would be be okay.
