As Kathleen made her journey back to the mansion, she pondered how she would break the news to the Head Housemaid, Lyndanna, the footman, Reginald, and the other maids, Dorkus, Zelena, and Prissy.
Kathleen entered through the back door to share the unfortunate news. There were streaks of wet mascara running down her cheeks, but the wind had dried them. It was unusual to have a lot of wind, but that wasn't on her mind. The staff were all flabbergasted, not knowing of Mitchell's lung problem in the first place. The ladies shed tears and Reginald just hung his head. The women also gave hugs. Reggie just gave a firm, yet considerate hand shake. He was holding up, but Kathleen could see the tears in his deep blue eyes.
She was halfway up the stairs when a window exploded, glass everywhere. In its place, a branch from a tree hung inside. The wind was racing, and Kathleen could smell the fresh scent of rain. The shards had scratched her in several places, mainly on her forearms, that she had sheltered her face with. She helped where she could, cleaning the mess, but Lyndanna, being a trained nurse, pulled her aside to inspect her wounds.
Soon a new window was installed and the house began to be warm again. A paranoid Alec quickly turned on a flat screen TV, and channeled to the Coast News, where Rick Newman was giving the latest report.I'm afraid to say that there's a cyclone traveling along the south- east coast of Maine. A cyclone was not what Kathleen needed, especially during this dreadful moment.
