In Love

Over the next few days, the storm had only become worse. Thankfully they had boarded the vulnerable windows and taken extra security precautions. The house was safe. However, this was not what occupied Kathleen's mind. She had spent almost all of her time with James, getting to know him and becoming his close friend. For memory's sake, Kathleen snuck a picture of him to admire when he was away. He was the friend she'd never have again. But she didn't have to worry about his departure until the storm stopped. She hoped it would last for a while longer though.
Several times Kathleen had to think of reasons to hate James out of fear that she'd fall for him and his charm. Perhaps it would be better if he left soon. But Kathleen like having a friend too much. If she became too attached, it would just make it harder when he actually left.
On the fifth day of James's stay, Kathleen noticed how much conflict there was between him and Alec. Alec glared while James avoided eye contact. It was almost as if Alec was the leader of the pack and if James challenged him, he would surely die. Kathleen rolled her eyes and walked away at James's side. As she bounced up the stairway, her foot caught missed a step and she fell backwards, into the arms of James. She laughed and looked into his deep blue eyes. Her heart skipped a beat and no matter how hard she resisted, she couldn't push away. She let the sensation flow through her freely as she admitted it.
