"Are you guys ready to go?" Jordan asked Spencer, Joe, and James in the lobby. From the kitchen, I heard the three guys agree in unison. For some reason, James is taking them on a "mystery trip", as he keeps calling it. Literally, he's the only person who knows what's going on. They're gonna vlog the entire thing while they're there, and I can't wait to see what it's all about.
I came out of the kitchen with my morning snack. "Ready for that mystery trip, huh?" I joked as I bit into my cookie.
James flashed a big smile but Joe and Spencer still looked confused. "Yeah, I think they are," he muttered devilishly.
"James, I swear," Spencer threatened, pointing his finger. "This better not get weird, dude."
The sneaky Puerto Rican continued to grin. "You'll find out soon enough, Spencie." James and Spencer followed Jordan out of the office while Joe stayed back a little.
"Don't have too much fun without me, okay?" I joked, wrapping my arms around him.
I heard his chest vibrate with a chuckle. "We'll try, Roobs. It's James, who knows what could happen?"
"Oh yeah, good luck with that." I broke one of my cookies and gave him the other half. "See you in a few days."
"Yeah, see you then. I'll let you know when we get there." Our moment was broken by James sticking his head in the door and shouting at Joe to hurry up. He gave me one more hug before picking up his luggage and jogging outside, ready to leave on his big surprise trip. I waited until I saw them walking by the glass panels and down the stairs, then started heading back to my own office to start work for the day.
I sat down and opened the video I need to finish for my own channel that I started last night. I put my headphones in and turned on Spotify, expecting to hear James down the hallway at any minute shouting at somebody else or scaring someone with whatever new thing he got in the mail. It was oddly quiet with everyone else working and soon I found my rhythm in my work.
About lunch time I uploaded my new video and headed down to Kevin's office. I passed by Dex in the hall and gave him a friendly wave.
"Oh, hey Ruby, I was just coming down to ask you something," he started, grabbing my arm lightly to catch my attention.
"Sure, Dex, what's up?"
"I was wondering if you would want to stream with me later on. It won't be until late, though, so if you have plans once you leave here I understand."
I thought about it for a second. Despite his obviously flirty behavior around me, Dex isn't really a bad guy. He's a lot of fun to stream with and his audience seems to like me too. Plus, I don't really do much once I get home, except for dinner and showers and scrolling through all my social media for a couple hours.
"Sure," I nodded. "I think Kevin will be going home earlier today, though, so if you could drive me home I'd love to stay."
His face lit up in a smile. "Great. I'll let you know when I wanna start sometime today, okay?"
"Okay. I'm gonna see what Kevin wants to do for lunch, but I'll be around."
We headed the same way down the hall until I reached Kevin's office. "Permission to enter?" I asked, waiting for him to look up.
"Permission granted. Come say hi." I walked over to his computer and saw that he was streaming CS:GO. I waved at the webcam and saw the excited hello's from the chat. "Let me finish this round then we can go."
"More like, CS:GO, am I right?"
I waited for a high five but earned a blank stare in return. "Just... Never mind." I took a seat in his bean bag and scrolled through Tumblr on my phone, waiting for his round to end.
