I was abruptly woken up by the faint sound of a phone ringing. I moaned rolling over and picking up the phone.
"Hello," I said still half asleep.
"This is your requested wake up call, you need to be downstairs in an hour dress and ready for school, breakfast will be brought to your room shortly," a voice on the other end said in a very monotone way before hanging up on me. Ugh, I had completely forgotten about school. I knew I had to go so I grudgingly rolled out of bed and into the shower.
As the warm water hit my back I began to wake up. Stepping out of the shower I dried myself off and walked over to the dresser and picked out high waisted acid wash jeans, a black ballerina top and a red and black flannel. To top off the outfit I put on my pair of black booties and straightened my hair placing it in a high ponytail when I was done. I unplugged my straightener when there was a knock at the door, I opened the door to see a selection of food on a cart.
"Pick what you want," said the woman standing next the cart. I grabbed plate just as she knocked on Wyatt's door. I looked at the cart it was full of plates with pancakes and fruits and croissants. I didn't feel very hungry so I decided to just pick out a croissant and a few strawberries. Wyatt finally opened door still in his pyjamas. "Pick what you want," the woman repeated.
"No thank you mam, I have my own breakfast," Wyatt said as he refused the plate she was trying to hand him. "Florence would you like to dine with me this morning?" he asked smiling.
"Sure Wyatt," I said turning back into my room to get my key. When I came back Wyatt was waiting for me outside his open door.
"Ladies first," he said motioning his hand towards the door. I walked into his room, he followed in behind me making sure to leave the door open.
"What will you be having for breakfast?" I asked hoping onto the bed. Wyatt got on to the bed before he answered.
"Lucky charms," he said pulling up a box from the floor. "I eat them everyday,"
"Why? They aren't magical, let alone magically delicious." I said sarcastically.
"You mock the magical properties in lucky charms cereal? How dare you?" he retorted before poured them into a bowl. He put the box back down and turned on the television. We sat in silence for about ten minutes before I figured Wyatt should probably get ready for school
"You should probably get ready,"
"What time is it?" he asked getting up off the bed. He started heading towards
"Eight twenty-five" I replied checking the time on my phone.
"Okay I'll be right back, keep my seat warm," he said winking at me as he walked into the bathroom. After about three minutes came out of the bathroom wearing dark washed jeans, a black tee shirt, a red and black flannel and a beanie.
"Are you trying to copy me?" I asked getting up.
"Maybe, why not? It'll be fun. Everyone will be starting to pair off today. That's how all trips work, I just wanted to let everyone know who I've picked," He smiled at me before continuing, "If that's alright with you of course." I smiled back, Wyatt was nice and thoughtful but I wasn't sure if he was just being nice or not.
"I don't mind," I said still smiling.
"Good, now we should get going." We both headed downstairs, almost everyone was downstairs by the time we got there and after a few minutes of waiting around everyone was there.
"Okay kids, settle down. The school is only a few blocks away. You can walk in a group or alone as long as you attend class. If we hear from any of your teachers that you're failing or you have miss a single class then you shall be sent home immediately. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes sir," we all mumbled under our breaths.
"Alright, good. Now since I'm guessing by the emptiness of your hands that none of you guys brought school supplies with you," he paused hoping we'd mutter something under our breaths again. "Well it's a good thing that all the schools we will be attending donated some stuff so that all of you guys would have that necessary things needed for school."
We were given our backpacks and directions to the school and off we went. On the walk to school I noticed little groups starting to form. A few people gathered together in little groups. The entire time this was happening I kept walking with Wyatt.
"You know you don't have to walk with me? You can go make friends with other people," I said to him.
"But that would ruin all the fun I'd get to have with you." Wyatt winked at me. He does that a lot I thought to myself. We keep walking until we get to school. Wyatt and I had talked most of the way about a weird dream he had. "So basically I came to school and I had completely forgotten to put on pants," he finished talking still laughing a little. I couldn't believe how well we got along. We'd only known each other less than a day and it felt like we had already known each other all our life.
When we got to school the principal greeted us along with the whole student body. I was shocked at the amount of people outside of this school. Some holding up signs that read "welcome national geographic students" or "welcome photography squad" I couldn't stop smiling.
"You have a great smile, you should totally smile more often," Wyatt whispered in my ear. I look down at my feet, I couldn't stop from blushing and as I was trying to hide it but I'm pretty sure he could see.
