"We need to talk." I say out of breath.

"About?" Quinn asks confused.

"You know how I absolutely hate that Niall kid?"

"Horan?"

"Mmhm. Well.. He works for my aunt and uncle now... And he's gonna help me babysit.. And drive me to and from school everyday.." I say awkwardly.

"What's wrong with that?"

"Do you know what happened?"

FLASHBACK:

I was sitting at recess crying on the bench like I did every day after my parents died.

"Someone's a cry baby!" Niall sings in a mocking tone.

I look up at him hurt. He was supposed to be my best friend. He was supposed to be there for me. But just when I thought I knew him, he changed. Just like that.

I don't say anything. I just sit there in silence.

"Just gonna sit there, huh?"

"Leave me alone!" I say scream at him getting up. His eyes widen, but he quickly regains his rudeness.

"Why don't you just go cry to the family that doesn't love you. No body loves you! And you thought I was your best friend? Pshh, please. We all know you'll NEVER be good enough for me." Niall ends his mini rant with me carrying my 10 year old legs back into the school to cry in the bathroom.

I never talked to Niall after that. He never talked to me. We hated each other and were arch enemies from then on.

If only he knew the harmful effect he had put on me that day.

If only.

FLASHBACK OVER.

"I'm so sorry. Paige." Quinn gushes.

"No." I say sternly and walk away. Class would be starting any minute anyway. I walk to geometry and find my seat. I sit there until class starts and then zone out.

"Paige Brooks!" I hear Mrs.Stanley yell.

"W-what?" I spit out confused of the situation.

"Will you be at the math party tonight?!" I says obviously annoyed.

"N-no." I stutter out.

"Okay. Thank you."

She does this for the rest of the students until the bell rings then its time for lunch.

I walk into the lunch room to find the one and only walking towards me.

"You wanna make a plan for tonight?" He asks.

"No." I say simply.

"You wanna talk about any schedules? Anything?"

"No." I say with a little more sternness. He finally gets the memo and walks away.

I get my lunch and walk over to where my friends are sat. They chit chatter everything that I'm not interested in. I just sit there and play with my food. I soon feel my pocket vibrate notifying me that I have a text.

Unknown number:

You know you can sit with me if you like?

Me:

Who is this? How did you get my number?

Unknown number:

Niall. ;) that's top secret information. Anyway, it's either, you come to me, or I come to you.

He was being so harsh about this. Just because he was going to be working with me doesn't mean he can just boss me around or that we're friends again.

Me:

Neither. We're going to both stay where we are. Just because we'll be working together doesn't mean we're going to be best friends. How I feel about you won't change. Ever.

He read the message but never responded. I knew I had won.

When lunch was over one of Niall's friends walks over to me, pulls me out of the cafeteria and into a supply closet.

"Listen here, bitch. You're going to work with me. And you're going to be a good girl. Aren't you?"

"W-what?" I stutter.

"We're gonna have some fun."
