Loneliness. Solitary. Like a weather beaten soldier standing sentry outside concrete castle walls on a wintery night.I'm sure some of you have felt it before?
You look around and see people with other people. Boyfriends and girlfriends. Best buddies. Families. Colleagues. Interest groups. Sometimes you might've just felt a little left out. A tiny pang of emptiness.
Maybe you just don't interact much or prefer to spend your time in other avenues.
Perhaps having silence or being away from crowded places seems attractive to you.
Maybe it wasn't really anyone's fault. Maybe it was just a series of preconceived feelings.
Maybe you weren't pathetic or sucky as you sometimes thought of yourself. What if being solitary was actually a strength, not a weakness?
It is actually. It takes a good chunk of courage and conviction to pursue your beliefs. Especially one that dosen't fit into the "mainstream" idea of how things work.
It takes more effort and is more rewarding to stand firmly on your own terms.
I'm not suggesting that you should be a rebel against mainstream ideas, being sociable or society. I'm just saying that, there is a good and bad to everything. So far you may have been striding on the greyer side of perspective. Why not try taking that step on to the brighter shore. Have a open mind, a broad perspective.Everyone has different ideas, hopes, desires. How they want to live, work, play.
Everyone, has the right to choose their path in life. For a long time in my life, i viewed and despised loneliness as a weakness. I saw it as a sign of inability to reach for greatness.
But that all changed. I learnt to appreciate my situation. I wasn't lonely. I was free. I had the ability to choose my path. To sculpt my standpoint. There's a wide range of options on my table. I can build up my skills. I can spend my time on recreation. I can learn new, intriguing stuff. Explore places that have never been explored before. Something which those with multiple commitments can hardly consider.
So for all those of you out there who have felt like i did. For all those who've ever felt lonely or discouraged. Take heart, i feel you. You've done your part going through struggles. It's time to rise now. Lift yourself up, find inspiration, shape your own legacy.
