35.
Kerensa"Kam, si Sabel? Do you happen to know where she's at right now?"
I even asked their maids, but they had no clue where she was.
What if huli na pala ako? God, I hope not.
As I observed Kamara's expression, I noticed that she lifted both eyebrows slightly, forming a subtle but noticeable arch on her forehead. Then, she shook her head slowly from side to side, indicating a negative response.
"Why? Do you need anything from her?" tanong niya sa seryosong tono. I can't help but notice that she seems quite serious today. It's my first time seeing her like this.
"N-No—I mean, yes! I need to see my wife, Kam.
"Your wife? Really, Kerensa? After mong pirmahan ang divorce papers niyo may lakas ng loob ka pang tawaging wife si Sabel?" she spoke with such emphasis that every word seemed to carry weight.
Ilang sandali akong natahimik. My heart raced as I tried to gather my thoughts and regain my composure. Eventually, I managed to break the silence with a nervous cough.
"I did not sign the divorce papers, Kam.
She copied my signature perfectly, which is why the document was accepted." Paglilinaw ko.
Natawa siya ng sarkastiko.
"Do you think maniniwala ako?" Disappointed na umiiling-iling siya. "I would have believed it if we were in a movie, but this is real life, Kerensa.
I could tell she was furious with me from how she looked at me. Her eyes spoke volumes of her anger towards me.
"I'm telling the truth, Kam.
She shook her head once more.
"Kung totoo man iyang sinasabi mo. I'm sorry, but I think you're too late. Matagal ko ng sinasabi sa 'yo na may mali sa kabit mo, pero you weren't listening to me."
Kamara appeared upset or angry earlier, but now her expression has shifted to sadness, and she looks at me with a sorrowful gaze. It seems as if something has happened that caused her to go from anger to sadness, and I can feel the change in her demeanour.
