Jordan's P.O.V

Three months later

Everyone's settled in so far. No one has been talking to anyone much. It's just really awkward at the moment. My job at the oil company has run me down. It's not like I can quit. Dan's job as a social worker isn't enough to support 12 kids. At this point, we're basically a foster home. I sat on the porch with a can of Bud Lite. I don't usually drink, but in times like this, you need it. I turned on my phone that was on the bench next to me. 1:53 A.M. I put my phone down as I heard the door open and close. I looked up and saw Dan, who sat with me in silence. After what seemed like forever, he began to speak.

"What's on you're mind Jordan?" He asked, still looking at the empty street in front of us. I sighed.

"My head just hurts." Dan stared at me, giving me a blank stare until he relaxed his head on my shoulder again.

"Okay. Sure. What's the real reason?" He asked again.

"I don't know anymore. There's so much stress on my mind now. The kids are about to go to school and I think we would be dead if Eddie wasn't here. I just need to get away from here. We need to get out of here. Oh my god." I sat up straight. "That's it!"

"What's it?" Dan asked sitting up straight as well.

"A road trip! It's perfect!" I jumped up. "With the kids! Dan your such a great listener!" I ran inside, leaving Dan on the porch.

I ran into the living room where Eddie was sleeping.

"Eddie, Eddie! Wake up!" I whisper yelled, shaking him. He sat up quickly, and very sleepily said, ' What's going on?'

"Let's go on a road trip!"

"What? Jordad it's," he checked the time on his phone, " 3:20. Can't it wait til tomorrow?"

"It's actually 3:26. Would you wanna go though?" I asked as he lied down.

"And baby sit a bunch of kids? Yeah, why not." He turned away from me. "Night Dad." I ran over to my laptop and opened it as I jumped on the bed, which caused horrible stomach pain, but I had one goal in mind.

Where should we end up...

I thought about it for a while, searched up how far placed were from Colorado.

Florida? No, to far. Texas? No, not far enough.

Then I got it.

California! It was a perfect place to stop! We could stop by the beach at the very end, it'll be amazing.

"Jordan, you come up with the best ideas. Thanks Jordan, I know." I told myself with pride. I quickly ran past Dan who was coming up the stairs.

"What's the rush?" He whispered, grabbing the sleeve on my shirt. I then got an idea on how to wake everyone up.

"FIRE! THERE'S A FIRE!" I yelled. (This did happen in my house. I was not happy.) I heard multiple doors swinging open from upstairs along with a lot of scared and confused noises. I then heard some crying from the hallway. Uh oh. Everyone, including I and a very confused Dan, ran into the front yard. Everyone was confused and scared, but over all just tired.

"Dad what's going on?" Spencer asked, holding onto a crying Joe.

"Uhhhhh we're going on a roadtrip. Everyone pack hehe." I said warily, many angry eyes guiding themselves onto me.
