Charlotte, Henry, and Jasper were at school at Charlotte's locker just talking about the latest events coming up before the dismissal bell rings.

"Hey, did you guys hear about the Homecoming dance that's next week?" Henry asks.

"Yeah, who are you going with?" asks Charlotte.

"Probably Bianca, but I'm not so sure," Henry says truthfully.

Lately, Henry and Bianca have been having an on and off relationship. The reason is because they both stopped trying in the relationship and it is more of a label at this point. No one cheated or got too clingy. They both just have different lives and are more occupied with other things. They hang out rarely and dates have never been brought up. Needless to say, the relationship is going nowhere fast.

"What about you Jasper?" Henry asks.

"I'm don't think the person I want to go with likes me," Jasper replies sluggishly.

The truth is Jasper has a slight crush on Charlotte. After middle school, things started to change. Charlotte's body developed a lot better and Jasper lost most of his baby fat. Other than appearance, Jasper and Charlotte got closer in high school. As a result, Jasper's feelings brewed over time. He never told her because he is afraid of being rejected and not being able to hang out with her anymore.

"Why not? They would be crazy to not go to the dance with a bucket-loving, funny guy like you," Charlotte encourages.

"Thanks Char. Who are you going with?"

"I don't even think I'm to that stupid dance."

"What? Why?" Henry asks.

"I'm a terrible a dancer, the music always sucks, and the lights give me headaches. On top of that, I don't like anyone in this school," she exclaims.

"Damn." Jasper says to himself.

"Are you kidding me Char? This high school is full of nice-looking freshmen. You're telling me you don't like one?" Henry interrogates.

"I'm not saying that I don't think anyone in this school is attractive. It's just that I'm not really interested in anyone. I don't worry about things like that. I have a GPA to keep up to par you know," Charlotte defends.

Charlotte truly hasn't been toying with the idea of relationships and doesn't think she needs to. She honestly just doesn't want that drama in her life. On top of that, she is constantly pressured by her parents to have straight A's in school and they always tell her that relationships are distractions.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. World's Biggest Nerd over here," Henry says. Jasper just stands there chuckling while Charlotte punches Henry in the arm.

"Ow..."

"That's what you get," Charlotte says triumphantly.

"Dude. You're gonna let a girl hit you like that?" Jasper asks.

"What do you mean? Are you saying that girls are supposed to be weaker than boys?" Charlotte asks getting in Jasper's face.

"Well...."

"You sexist pig! No wonder you can't get a date to the dance!"

Jasper's face drops and he looks like he's about to cry.

"Char, why did you have to say that?" Henry scolds.

"I was just joking," Jasper mumbles.

"I'm sorry Jasper. I didn't mean to say that. You know that," Charlotte apologizes.

"It's okay."

Charlotte gives Jasper a hug and Henry just rolls his eyes.

"Okay, you guys made up. Now cut the sappy shit and let's go to my house."

Henry's a little off about how close they've gotten ever since they got to high school. He doesn't think he's jealous, he's just thinks it has become an uncomfortable situation for him.

Jasper and Charlotte let go of each other and just glare at Henry.

"Are you guys going to kiss to?" Henry asks annoyed.

Charlotte and Jasper step away from each other and avoid eye contact. The bells rings and the hallway starts filling up with people.

"Alright then. Let's go."
