Chapter 5

Henry's Point of View

As I walk into class, I catch the sight of Charlotte and Jasper laughing and chatting amongst themselves without a care in the world. I involuntarily make my hands clench into fists. I knew Charlotte was right about some of the things she said a couple of days ago, but she was wrong about how this 'thing' that Jasper and her got going on is none of my business. We're all best friends and I have the right to be in the loop of their relationship.

All these thoughts fade out of my mind as I remember that I have to apologize for yelling at her and tell her that she was right about me being a player. I walk up to where Charlotte and Jasper are and loudly cough to get their attention. Charlotte looks at me with a blank expression and Jasper has a huge smile on his face.

"Hey guys," I say awkwardly.

"Hey Henry! Have you heard about the Bucket Convention that's coming to town in a couple of weeks? I heard it's going to be epic," Jasper says enthusiastically.

"No I didn't, but it sounds pretty cool."

"I know right. So I was thinking that we all could go together."

"Nah I'm good. You guys can enjoy that by yourselves."

"Are you sure because you're gonna be missing out on buckets of fun."

"Is that so? Okay then. I'll think about it, but can I talk to you for a second Charlotte?"

"Why?"

"Because I need to talk to you about my personal hygiene, now come on."

Henry and Charlotte walk out of the classroom and go to the lockers by the door.

"So...Ummm....I'm...Sorta......Kinda....Maybe....." I struggles.

"Spit it out Henry," Charlotte says, hating when I struggle with things.

I let out a heavy sigh and mumble, "I'm sorry."

"What did you say? Did you say you have a Ferrari?" Charlotte pushes.

"I'm sorry. Geez, ya happy?"

"Not exactly. What are you sorry for?"

"I'm sorry for yelling at you. You were right. I am a Manwhore, but trust me I'm not proud of that. I should've never cursed at you when you were saying all the things that I needed to hear. Can you forgive me?"

"Well....." Charlotte teases.

"Come on Char. Pleaaase," I beg.

"Oh alright."

We wrap our arms around each other and keep hold of the warm embrace for a good minute. We finally let go with their friendship more intact then before, but I have one more thing to clear up.

"You weren't completely right. You know that right?"

"And how is that?"

"You said that you and Jasper's relationship is none of my business, but it completely is."

"Why is it your business, Henry?" Charlotte says raising her voice.

"It my business because we're all best friends and the job of a best friend is to be in their best friend's business. It's common sense!" I defends.

"You have a point, but its not like we're a thing yet. So you should respect your best friends' decisions and back up."

"Back up? BACK UP?! Okay sure Charlotte. Did I tell you to back up when it came to my relationship with Bianca? What about Chloe? Veronica? Please. You're the biggest hypocrite on the face of the Earth. You know what forget it! I don't know I ever saw in you in the first place."

"I only did that to help you because you're a terrible at talking to girls and romance in general. But no, I don't even get a thank you. You really are dumb. I was being a good friend instead of some jealous nosy friend with some sudden infatuation. You need to reevaluate your priorities because you're putting your feelings over what's reality. And the reality is that you don't know what to do with yourself so you shouldn't act like you know what to do with others."

"You really think you know everything don't you. You think you're all high and mighty because you supposedly have everything in your life in order. What are you, Dr. Phil? I have come to terms with myself and accepted that I am a player and need to change, but you need to accept that you're a selfish human being. So selfish that you can't take in to consideration that I actually might be falling for you."

"You don't just do this Henry! It's not that easy..."

"That's the thing, you overthink too much. It doesn't have to be as complicated as your mind depicts it to be. You have to let yourself go and be free. I know you're nervous because your ears twitch when you are."

Charlotte quickly covers her ears and mutters, "No I don't."

Yeah, sure you don't. But listen, it doesn't have to be this way because I can tell that your mouth is saying one thing but your eyes are saying another. So don't think. Just look."

We stare at each other and I inch closer to her slowly but steadily. My heart is racing as push back a lock of Charlotte's curly mane and let her chocolate brown eyes absorb mine. I lick my lips and hold her face with my hands. Finally closing the distance between us, I greet her lips with mine and after a moment she kisses back. I want this moment to last for as long as I can no matter what happens next.

"What are you guys doing?!" Jasper yells.

Charlotte and I jump away from each other in shock. Charlotte keeps saying "I'm sorry" at Jasper until she runs away with tears running down her face. Jasper walks up to me and looks at me with the most hurt expression I've ever seen on anyone in my life.

"How could you, Henry? How could you?" Jasper says in a hoarse voice, sounding like he is about to cry.

He gives me one last glance with this heartbreaking disfigured look on his face then runs off in search of Charlotte. I slam my back against the lockers and slide down to the floor feeling more distraught then I've ever been.

Hello homo sapiens. I know this chapter is kind of all over the place, but I just wanted to post something today like I said I would. I'm posting this before I watch the new episode even though you all have probably watched it already. I only watched the videos Nickelodeon posted on their YouTube channel. I know this sounds obsessive, but I've watched the Fan Questions video like a thousand times already. Okay that's a hyperbole, but you get the point. I really don't really ship the characters AND actors, but come on. I'm not the only one who saw the way Jace kept looking at Riele. I need help. Someone stop me. Just kidding. #Jiele #Chenry (P.S. Jasper always seems so distant from everyone else in the cast besides Jace. I know that there's a lot more that happens off camera and I shouldn't assume on what I truly don't know about, but that's just my observations.)
