I was about to leave for the airport with Tasha when Alberta ran over to us.

"Belikov!  It's Rose.  She's missing.  Christian Ozera is gone too." she said.  Tasha looked at me.

"I'll wait here." she told me.  I nodded and followed Alberta to the Headmistress' office.  Lissa sat there, her face was tear stained.

"We have to find them!" she was pleading.  My phone rang.

"Belikov." I answered curtly.

"Listen up Belikov.  If you ever want to see Rose or Christian again, you'll do exactly as we say." a cold voice said on the other end of the line.  There was screaming and I knew it was Rose.

"Christian!  Rose!" Lissa yelled.  The torture kept on going.  Then there was silence.

"Rose!  Roza!  Are you still there??" I asked frantically.

"Don't come!  Stay where you are!" Rose cried.  Another blow silenced her.

"If you want your Rose to live.  You'll coe get her.  You know where to find us."

We drove to Spokane in silence.  Lissa, left behind.

"You love her." Alberta broke the silence.

"No." I said.

"Yes you do.  I have no idea why you're choosing to leave her." Alberta argued.  I pressed on the brakes.

"We're here."

When we got inside, there were no Strigoi left.  Then I went down to the basement.  Rose was there.  Blood surrounded her.  When she saw me, her eyes widened and she shook her head.  I pulled out my stakes.  There was movement in the corner of my eye.  Strigoi!  But Rose had jumped up and knocked him over.  Suddenly she screamed and reeled backwards.  There was a knife stabbed in her shoulder.  The Strigoi threw her to the ground.  Rose lay there, unmoving.  I staked my Strigoi and the other one.  Then I knelt down next to Rose.  A pool of blood surrounded her.

"Roza.  My Roza.  Please wake up!" I whispered.

"Dim...itri..." she coughed up blood and I winced.

"Rose.  Oh, Roza."  I picked her up and she cried out, her beautiful features contorted in pain.

"I'm so sorry Roza, we have to get you out of here." I muttered.  I carried her gently to the car and set her down in the backseat.

"Why'd you come?  I told you to stay!" Rose began to cry.  Alberta came in with Christian who had been left without a scratch.  I sat in the back, stroking Rose's hair.

"I love you Roza." I said.
