I heard a sharp intake of breath and my eyes snapped open. Standing before me, eyes wide open and had against his mouth, was the green eyed raven my thought had been full of. His eyes filled with not only shock, and what also looked like a hint of horror, but also excitement.
Uh Oh...
~~~~~~~~~~~
I lay there staring into the eyes of the raven. We were both frozen with shock. As I lay there I remembered what he was doing to the plants and I was filled with terror. I started shaking more violently and tried to shuffle away from him. A shock of pain went through my body as my wing scraped against the ground. I let of a yelp of pain and my head fell backwards. The back of my head slammed against the ground and I stumbled backwards, back onto the ground. I let out another whimper of pain. I squeezed my eyes closed, afraid I wouldn't be able to get away, and waited for more pain.
When the pain didn't come I slowly reopened my eyes, cautious. I looked up at him, I was unsure and kept my mouth closed. He looked a little hurt. The shock had almost completely vanished from his face and instead was replaced with a look of guilt as his eyes traveled to my injured wing. I saw this and glanced towards it. My eyes widened in shock when I saw the narrow, black stick that was lodged in my wing. It had gone all the way through my wing and came back out the other side. The side that had gone through my wing had a sharp, silver tip attached to it, and had a light coating of red over it. The other side that had not touched my wing had green and blue feathers attached to the end. There was some blood that had oozed out of my wing that was now dripping down my white feathers. I stared at it in shock until I heard a rustling were the human still stood.
I turned my attention back to him to see that he had taken a few steps forward. He looked directly at me and stood still again. He looked wary, as if he was scared of my running. He was acting as if he was waiting for permission of some sort. He opened his mouth to say something and I flinched back, afraid again. Seeing this he closed his mouth again, at a loss of words. We were still for a moment again before he sighed. I didn't flinch this time as he opened his mouth. Taking this as a sign to continue he spoke. "Hi" was all he said. I just stared at him confused. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Instead I tried to sit up. Once again a blast of pain shook my body. I just winced and ignored it. I continued to sit up as the raven just stared at me, in a loss of what to do.
I fought against the pain in my attempt to sit up, but in the end I still lost. As I was halfway into a sitting position, I started seeing black spots and collapsed back onto the ground. He made a startled yelp as I winced and gasped for breath. I lay there regaining my breath as he just watched me. Finally the silence was broke when his eyes lit up and he gasped a little. He dug in his pocket for a moment before pulling out a small clear box with red designs on it. "Good thing I remembered this" I heard him mumble to himself. He looked at me for a moment before slowly walking towards me. I shuffled back just a little before wincing in pain again and lying still.
I closed my eyes again and listened to his footsteps drawing nearer. As the crunching of his feet stopped directly in front of me I opened my eyes. I looked at him as he kneeled down in the grass, our eyes made contact and I swear my heart skipped a beat. I started shaking again in fear of what he might do. He saw this and slowed his movements down as he reached for my wing with one hand and set the box down with the other. I gulped quietly and watched him closely. His eyes left mine and fluttered down to my wing again. Slowly but surely, his hand made it's way to my wing. He lightly touched it, as if afraid of startling me. I yelped a little, partly in fear partly in pain. He kept his hand still on my wing, carefully, not putting any pressure. Gently, he started stroking my wing in a soothing way.
I whimpered a little as pain flared up again. He continued his carefulness as he focused on what he was doing. As he carried on with his stroking, I felt the pain slip away slowly. My shivering stopped and my wing didn't hurt as much. 'Woah' I thought to myself as I studied him closely. His green eyes, I noticed, had golden flecks and a look of determination set in them. His jet black hair had not a hint of any other color in it, it was pure darkness, but he also had an air of kindness to him.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I felt that piercing pain in my wing again. I gasped then winced in shock and looked to see what happened. He had grabbed ahold of the object that was still lodged in my wing. My head whipped back towards him, eyes wide and full of fear again. I saw in his eyes, guilt. Though still was the determination present and it overruled that guilt. He closed his eyes and spoke gently, as if to reassure me. "I'm sorry" was all that he said before he gently started pulling it from my wing. I gasped in pain and my hands shot out a grabbed a fistfull of his shirt. I trembled slightly as I yanked myself to him and my eyes started watering. My breathing became shaky and I tightened my grip on his clothes.
He continued pulling on it, keeping his gentleness and slow speed. The pain was agonizing and tears slipped from my eyes. I clenched my teeth together and my eyes slammed shut. I could feel it slipping out of my wing slowly and I made quiet whimpering noises.
Finally I felt it give way and it was completely gone from my wing. I sighed in relief but didn't remove my death grip from his clothes. I was trembling violently again as I felt the blood oozing from my wing again. I saw black spots begin to appear in my vision and my head started to dip again. He looked at me concerned. I tried to say something, probably a thanks, but I was so tired that I couldn't make a sound. My wing no longer hurt, instead there was just a numbness. The black was overriding my sight, but I made no attempt to force it away. As I slipped away into the realm of darkness the last thing I saw were his beautiful, bright, juniper green eyes and my head rested onto his shoulder.
