Pete refused to go to school, he just couldn't face Mr.Way because it was embarrassing how much he was pining for Mikey.

He felt like numb, and he assumed that it was like that when you got your heart broken.

He just wanted to do one of two things- crawl down to hell or crawl into Mikey's arms.

It was an understatement to say he missed Mikey, he missed everything about him. His hair, his smile, the way his eyes light up, Pete didn't care about how ridiculously soppy he was being.

But his mother did, because his mother cared. No matter how nosy she has Pete's best intentions at heart.

"Are you okay?"

"He broke my heart."

"Are you going to tell us who he is?" Pete still hadn't revealed the identity of his boyfriend and refused to sink so low to put Mikey in such jeopardy. It wasn't even about Mikey taking him back, it was about being a decent human.

"No, even his name hurts..."

"Well, maybe you rushed into things a bit quickly...."

"Yeah..." Pete knew he had, Pete had been crushing since he was an freshman and had stupidly acted upon that crush and now within the space of a few weeks he had fallen head-over-heels for a boy way out of his league.

He was just heartbroken, too heart broken to even bother fathoming his poor decisions.

Mikey was in a similar situation, meaning like Pete he was doing nothing help his situation.

He was watching Netflix, specifically sad romance films.

Despite the actually drama he was watching he was more upset that he had no one to watch Netflix and Chill with.

Pete would have made jokes out of the films, and the entire idea would have become funny, and he missed that so much.

He reckoned he hadn't smiled as much as he did around Pete since he was 12 years old.

And he thought that was confirmation enough that he hadn't rushed into things like his conscious was unnecessarily reminding him.

He tried to ignore the numbness of his heart and focus on how he'd try his luck with Pete at the end of the year.

He didn't think 'trying his luck' even got close to describing his relationship with Pete.

Bliss.

Paradise.

Heaven.

As cheesy as it sounded those were better attempts.

He just really really really really really really really liked kissing Pete Wentz and really loved Pete Wentz in general.

And he hoped Pete still knew that because he couldn't go to work everyday knowing that the boy who had stolen his heart hated him with a passion.

He was going to love him, because he couldn't stop loving him but he couldn't risk it anymore, because if he did he couldn't love Pete anymore.

Pete's mother couldn't take it any more.

She didn't necessarily need any more milk and bread but she did need Pete to get out of the house.

His room always smelt like old pizza crusts but now that stench had spread around the house, and she couldn't handle that.

"Peter, please...."

"Okay....okay,okay. I'm going, I'm going."

Pete rammed a beanie on his head, because his heart hurt enough, he didn't need frostbite to add to that.

He trudged the long way because Pete was a teenager and he was allowed to act like that, by avoiding his ex's apartment block.

He hated the word 'ex' in reference to Mikey. Because he still loved Mikey, and couldn't handle the idea of him moving on.

He walked into the News Agency, trying to avoid eye contact when a soft cough made his eyes dart up.

And he saw exactly who he wanted to see, Mikey.

Then he realised that he had red and puffy eyes, greasy hair poking out from under his beanie and was probably just disgusting.

"Hi." Mikey said softly, like Pete was fragile. No matter what angst he claimed to have he couldn't help but admit he was fragile and that he melted internally as Mikey's smooth voice.

"H-hi Mikey." Pete was about to cry, he was so sad but so mad at the same time.

"Sorry. I-I have to get s-some b-bread..."

"Oh. Okay. Bye Pete, see you tomorrow!" Mikey tried to be cheery, but when Pete was crying Mikey felt like crying.

Pete slipped past him, and Mikey felt like he had missed an opportunity to change the hollows in his chest cavity.

He heard the door open, and saw Pete scurrying out, wiping at his eyes.

And Mikey just felt worse.
