New-found love.

I woke up in Dr. Beckett’s arms, allowing the warmth of someone else’s body sink into my skin.

“Good-morning” his voice was rough with sleep and he stretched his arms about his head. “How’d you sleep? I’m sorry if I did anything wrong” he smiled and blushed as he realised he still had his pyjamas on.

“I slept wonderfully, thanks to you” - I smiled up at him – “And you didn’t do anything wrong. Most men would’ve made a pass at any woman sleeping in their bed; but you, you allowed me to just cuddle you and all you did was hold me” I snuggled closer into the side of his ribs.

“Well, obviously I’m not most men. What do you want to do today?” he asked. He wrapped his arms around me tighter and I tried to move even closer, which apparently was impossible.

“Don’t you have to work?” I asked, confused. He’d worked every single day when I was in hospital.

“I only work weekdays, not weekends” he explained.

“Then how come you were there every day I was there?” I tilted my head to show that I was confused.

“I worked every day because... well, I wanted to see you. Ever since I was there, holding your hand, watching you wake up – I’ve felt so happy” he smiled down on me and sat up to look at me.

“I don’t ever want to leave!” I tried to sit up with him, but James had to help me.

“I don’t ever want you to leave. You’re my prisoner now, miss! Hey, you wanna go see a movie or a play?” he got out of bed and came around to my side to help me stand up.

“I was actually thinking we should just stay home, maybe rent some DVD’s and just relax here, at home. Maybe even treat ourselves, and get some strawberries and melted chocolate! Ooh; and some marshmallows! We could cook them in the wood fire! Please, Dr. Beckett? Please?” I shouted. I was excited, and I mean really excited!

“Gosh, you’re like a little kid in a lolly shop! You know, you’re very cute” he lightly tickled my under-arm and I slapped his hand away.

“James, you know how last night you said you think you’re falling in-love with me?” I asked, blushing.

“Yeah?” he said, looking at me.

“Well, I think that I’m falling even more in-love with you!” I said, tickling his under-arm now.

We finally made our way into the lounge room and I sat down on the couch. James walked into the kitchen and the phone began to ring. 5 minutes later, James came back into the lounge with two glasses of water and sat down next to me.

“Guess what? Change of plans, you’re getting your plaster taken off today. Is that alright with you?” he rubbed his arm against my plaster.

“That’s wonderful! I’m so sick of not being able to itch my leg, and it’ll be such a relief to be able to walk again. You won’t need to help me around anymore; well not as much anyway” I said. Today was going to be great.

“I’m actually going to miss having to lift you into bed” James said. He leaned forward and kissed my lips, hard. He pushed me backwards, so I could feel the softness of the couch on my back. James’ hard body was leaning over mine.

“James, let’s go to the hospital. I want this stupid thing off my leg” I pushed his body off of mine and he looked disappointed. Should I be doing this when my husband has just died? When did I even realise he was dead?

“Okay, Tayla. Let’s go, but after we come back, I wanna talk about us. Is that alright with you?” James stood from the couch and helped me up. What about us? I wondered.
