It wasn't Hadley's choice.

When people found out about Hadley's suicide, they all had different reactions. Some cried even though they barely knew the real her, others were too shocked to do anything, some barely cared. Everyone just kept asking: why? Why would she do something like that? Why would she take her own life?

What they didn't realize was that their names were the answers to those questions. Denver, Dani, Elaina, Kyler, Diana, Hazel Mae, Eleanor... even Kristee, Bruce, Susannah and countless other unnamed people in her life. All of them played a role in what she did, even if they didn't realize it.

Because at the end of it all, she didn't jump; she fell. And the fall lasted a lot longer than 0.7 seconds. It lasted a lifetime: specifically 166 days.

Hadley was just a girl, just like you and me, who was pushed so many times that she started to fall.

Thank you all for reading this short story! There was a time where I didn't think I was going to finish it, and I was in a bit of a slump after I wrote around 6 chapters of a story and then gave up on it. I hate leaving things unfinished, so I'm glad I pushed through that and developed this idea.

I know this book might seem really depressing and dark, but I promise, there is a message behind this. I don't think people realize the impact we have on others. You don't know what people have been through. Yeah, to you they are just another nameless person playing the role of an extra in the movie of your life, but you need to remember to lift people up, don't push them down.

So take a moment to think about the Hadleys that are in your life. How can you reach out to them and slow down their fall, eventually bringing it to a halt, and then reaching out a hand to help them back up?

Okay this is getting way too emotional for me but basically the message of the book is: don't take the people around you for granted. Treat everyone with respect and dignity because you don't know what they are going through, and you CAN make a difference in their life.

Thank you all for reading, I love you all, and if you ever need to talk to somebody, I'm here or I can help you find someone to talk to who actually knows what they are doing!
