The Banquet had only just begun, when two unexpected guests came around...
Everyone present instantly fell to their knees, recognizing the insignia on the solid gold pendant swinging from one of their belts.
"Paying respects to the Sky Emperor! Ruler of Two Realms!"
Well... everyone bowed except...
Luoyin, Weiyan, Old man Bao, Kai Zhen, Yin Xing, and Yin Ying, all of whom had near identical brow raises at these uninvited guests!
But Tianlong and Fei Yun simply inclined their heads in respect.
"I know we're uninvited, but I couldn't resist trying to bribe an old friend." Tianlong waved his hand, and a magnificant white tiger appeared.
It was Yiguang!
"I've decided to sever my Soul-bond with her, so she can be happy with Laoying and her child." He shifted his feet awkwardly. "Forgive me, I only learned about her connection with Laoying recently... It's not much, but it's also the right thing to do."
Before their eyes, Yiguang transformed into an impossibly beautiful dark-skinned older lady with long flowing white hair, drawing gasps of awe from the guests.
She elegantly dropped to her knees, giving a final kowtow to Tianlong.
"Thank you, Master!" She said, and then swiftly vanished to seek out Yinying and Mingguang at once!
All eyes turned to Fei Yun.
"Ah, I ran into him in the area and somehow tagged along..." Fei Yun began, causing their brows to shoot upwards.
Did he consider the sheer absurdity of 'being in the area' when Sky Realm was so far away...?!
One corner of Luoyin's lips twitched ever-so-slightly.
"Ahem!" Fei Yun held out a hand and a glowing green orb appeared. "This was lying around Fate Hall... Th- the child can play with it once she's older!"
"Lying around, you say?" Luoyin asked in mild awe.
The green orb was masked as something innocent, but Luoyin could sense outrageous amounts of pure qi within it, most of it from Fei Yun's own essence...
Having something like this would be highly beneficial to the growth of any young Immortal, and especially helpful for half-immortals like his daughter.
There was also a mild Fate Spell attached to the orb which would bring endless blessings to any mortal.
Both gifts were immensely thoughtful.
Tianlong knew him best.
The treasures of the world would never move Luoyin, but helping those closest to him might, so Tianlong had freed Yiguang, bringing happiness and a complete family to Yinying!
And as for Fei Yun's gift, it was not much use since his daughter was only half-mortal, and he was more than capable of making her rise, with or without this orb...
But Luoyin could acknowledge and appreciate the sheer amount of Lifeforce Fei Yun had spent creating it.
Luoyin sighed. ~"Things can't go back to the way they were..."~ He spoke into both their minds. ~"However, we can at least lay the Past to rest."~
This was certainly good enough for Tianlong and Fei Yun! And they smiled happily as Luoyin inclined his head to Meng Qiu, signalling for a new Table at the front of the Hall.
~"It's a small, but mighty step!"~ Tianlong telepathically said to Fei Yun, and Fei Yun nodded in agreement.
~"Perhaps there's still a chance for us in the future!"~
The banquet continued without a hitch...
The child was presented at an auspicious hour, and all the guests ooohed and aaahed at the appropriate moments, cheering and offering their congratulations!
Lord Xu was having much too much wine! Unable to contain his delight in his new grandaughter!
Old man Bao had the air of one who had seen far too many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and even great grand nieces and nephews!
Yet, his eyes were filled with light to behold this precious great great grand niece!
The immortals could appreciate the weight of this present joy.
This couple had passed through countless years of trials and tribulations, crawling out of hell each time. And that resilience had bought the world Peace several times over, all leading to this beautiful moment.
As for Luoyin himself, he wasn't talking much, as he was concentrating on NOT crying here and losing face before his guests!
His heart was nearly exploding with his joy, as his eyes roamed the banquet hall, presently filled with mostly his family, dearest friends, and well-wishers.
'I'm truly blessed!' He thought, lightly squeezing Weiyan's hand which sat comfortably within his.
With her growth and natural genius, it would only be a year or two before she would ascend, so his nightmares of her growing old and leaving him behind would thankfully never happen!
Eventually, he and his immediate family would likely leave Yue City, to avoid the inevitable awkwardness of others aging, while they essentially remained the same...
But that was quite a while away!
No matter what the future held, Luoyin was beyond content in this moment.
And as long as his loved ones remained safe, he would be content even in the times to come...!
