4 Getting the Facts

The next few days were rough for me. Wil was pissed at me for not joining them. Camren was in a bad mood because Wil  scratched him with his claws. Charlie and Dylan were still wary of me. Jenny just sat in front of the wall and didn't really talk to anyone. Then there was Lucy. Lucy and her brown eyes. They hadn't turned electric blue since the last time. She seemed to be the only normal one because she always seemed pissed at the world for no reason. Maybe this was normal and I just didn't know it. I didn't know anything about these people.

I sat in library for the fifth day in a row reading the bestiary and other various books. Dolores, the librarian, and I had became friends which was very odd for me. Most kids called her Mrs. Tomlin but like I said we had became close. Several other kids trickled in over those days-ones who had been living there and ones moving in. Classes started in two days. It was that two days before classes started Dylan and Charlie decided to fill me in.

I was in the middle of reading about banshees when they sat down in front of me. Charlie smiled but Dylan had a brooding look on her face. She was wearing sunglasses and had her hood up. It was a rare sunny day in London and that irritated her. Vampires didn't burn up at sun but she could get a bad rash from it. "Okay Jackson," she started, "Classes start in a few days so Charlie and I have decided to get to know you and you us. By us we mean him, me, Lucy, and the twins. We can't tell you really anything about Jenny because we don't know her well."

"Oh and Landen, Mr. Lewis, and Leah too," Charlie added. "So, are you ready for a nice presentation?"

"What is this even for?" I asked them annoyed.

"You need to learn, Jackson," Dylan said harshly. "We're the ones who are going to teach you. So follow us."

She got up and Charlie and I followed her. We made our way to an empty classroom that was "under construction". I sat down in an empty seat while Dylan and Charlie turned on a projector and computer. A picture popped up of Dylan. "Let's start easy, shall we," Dylan said cheery.

"Dylan Shae, 17, vampire. Been at this school for 10 years," Charlie started. "She was born not bitten. Vampires are like werewolves kind of. They bite to transform but don't always kill. Garlic and then sun don't kill them either."

"Garlic gives us hives and the sun gives a bad rash," Dylan explained more. "Holy water thing, not real. The only things to date to kill a vampire are cutting its head off or a stake to the heart laced with mountain ash."

"So vampires don't drink human blood like Dracula?" I asked.

"Depends on the area. Here in Western Europe we're more civilized than those in Russia and Romania who stick to the 'traditional, original, and classic' way," she said.

"So do you guys actually turn into bats?"

She glared at me. "No. Let's move on. There isn't much to know about me," she clicked a button and Charlie's picture popped up. "Charles 'Charlie' Parker, 16, were-coyote."

"A were-coyote is basically the same thing as a werewolf but with more coyote features," Charlie said. "What else? I come from a family of bitches, literally. My family sucks."

"That's the truth," Dylan murmurs under her breath. I can tell Charlie heard her though. She clicked the button quickly so nothing more can be said. A picture of the twins at a young age and their mom popped up. Another man stood by them. "Here we have Wil, Camren, and Leah Becker. By them is Ethan, Leah's husband and the twins's father."

"Ethan was killed when the twins were two years old saving Wil from his grandfather and Leah's uncle Gerard. After that her father decided to just push them out of his life. Ethan had family in England so that was there next move. That's how I met the Becker's," Charlie stated. "My mum was Ethan's sister. She was bitten around fifteen years old by my dad. Lovely meeting. Today's not the day for it though. Well, maybe later."

"Wil was bitten when he was two years old," Dylan continued for Charlie. "Normally werewolves bite teenagers because they have a better chance of living. Wil just happened to be unlucky.  Leah was off on a hunt leaving Ethan home with Camren and Wil. It was late at night and he'd put them down for bed when someone broke into the house. It was werewolf and he bit Wil. Ethan was up and killed the werewolf. It was too late."

"How long after was Ethan killed?" I asked.

"6 hours," Charlie answered. "Leah, Gerard, her father, Chris, and Kate returned. Gerard, Kate, and her father tried to kill Wil. Leah tried to stop them along with Chris and Ethan. Ethan got in the way and Gerard didn't hesitate. That's when they stopped. Leah's father didn't want it to come to that. He just abandoned her and they came here."

"Camren is the human. Yes, Leah is too but she's the administrator here and was once a hunter. That's all Camren is, just human-not a hunter and not a Druid. To make him not feel worthless, we call him the brains of our group. It makes him feel special," Dylan continued and clicked the next slide.

"Wes Lewis is a former CIA and Interpol agent. He retired after in incident an Paris seven years ago and came here," Charlie explained. "Not much to him. He helps around and deals with humans that don't know anything. He knows about the supernatural, it was a part of his job to know." Landen the asshole popped up next.

"Landen West is a 17 year old arse," Charlie said plainly. "His father, Graham West, owns W&W oil company and his mother is Carol West, one of the best and most important people in parliament. You have no idea who she is because you're American. Anyway, Landen's been here since the beginning like me and the twins. We have no idea if he's supernatural or not and no idea if he knows about the supernatural. We don't think he does but he could be hiding his knowledge."

One final picture pooped up- Lucy and her brown eyes. "Lucy Kane is 17 and came here 7 years ago. She also originally from France. She's resilient and tends to 'serve justice'. That's what she likes to call it. Her parents died some years back in some brutal incident. She only had a grandma but at the time, and I believe still has, poor health and was unfit to take care of her. The French government worked with Interpol and sent her here," Dylan explained.

"Do you know what supernatural creature she is?" I asked, thinking of those electric blue eyes.

"No," Charlie said. "We know she is one but we don't know what. Do you have any questions, Jackson?"

"No," I said, "I think I've got it. I'm just gonna head to bed."

I got up without saying anything to them and hurried out of the room. It felt like a lot of information to take in and I wasn't ready for it. I needed to understand London, England, and it's language first. I scurried past the wall and saw Jenny still sitting there. Camren was in a garden writing things. Wil was discussing things with another student. Landen was stalking down a hall. That was it, because everything went black after that.
